NAR: No-Call in NFC Championship

Post by GameFAQSAggie » January 20th, 2019, 4:28 pm

There was a terrible defensive pass interference no-call in the NFC Championship game against the Rams. If it was called, the Saints would have been able to run the clock all the way down and kick an easy field goal. The Saints fans and coach were all PISSED. When they went to midfield for the coin toss, they were still booing knowing the game should be over.

That was a brutal no call.

Saints were up 13-0 and had left a good amount of points on the board. No one to blame but themselves.

The irony of that play is that if the db would have turned around, he would have had an interception, and if he just didn't make contact, the ball would have hit him in the back.

One thing you aren't going to believe, or are going to believe cause it makes perfect sense, is that one of the two officials who missed the call, is one of the SAME guys we had when we played at USC where there were some terrible calls and no-calls against us. This is not wild speculation cause of the similarities, but a FACT that can be proven by the box scores. The other ironic thing is the Saints guy who got interfered with without a call was a guy who played for Northern Illinois who we played later that year.

At least Jojo was on the right end of the guy's incompetence this time around.

Also, it's safe to say that the Rams defender did more on THAT play that Dallin Leavitt did on two plays COMBINED that he was once called for back to back.

It's also a FACT that karma's a b!tch. The Saints have historically been one of the dirtiest teams in the NFL. A call doesn't go their way and they lose? B - O- O - H - O - O.

Also, there were some questionable calls in the AFC Championship. Like a roughing the passer call.

The ref didn’t throw the pick in OT.

Refs can and do impact games. This is a classic example. Yes other plays could have been made, but this was as bad as it gets and on this stage?

To me the biggest mistake of the championship games didn't involve an inaccurate or missed call by the refs; it was lining up offside. Killer.

That mistake was made by a guy who was part of Auburn's team when we lost to them. Too bad he didn't make some sort of similar stupid mistake back then.

Right the argument “It’s on the Saints” doesn’t fly for me. The no call gave the Rams a chance to stay in the game they didn’t deserve. How many additional plays should a team need to make in order to overcome a horrible no call?

I'm so glad the Saints lost this way with a horrible no call and then a field goal in overtime. It reminded me of the multiple no calls that led to the Saints going to and winning the Super Bowl in 09. Couldn't have happened more perfectly if I'd written it myself.

I say the same thing to their fans that they've told me as a Vikings fan for 10 years. Should have done more to win earlier so that the game couldn't be decided by one call.

Seriously, is there anyone left on planet earth outside of their diehard fans that will be rooting for the Paycheats? If your favorite team is eliminated or you are just a casual fan of pro football you can't seriously in good conscience want to see them win can you?

The ref from that game in the 17 years and counting since that dark night has never worked a Raiders game again. We'll have to see if the officials from this one ever work a Saints game again. Or if the still assign the white hat from this one his share of Saints game but block the side judge and down judge involved in this or vice versa. Or even block the entire crew involved from the Saints.

The Saints reminded me of that game. They melted down just like the Raiders did, they both lost their poise.

I've got no dog in this fight and regardless of whether the right call would have decided the game or not it was the worst non-call I have seen all my time of playing, watching, and coaching football. Not only was it an intentional and blatant PI initiated by the Defender who thought he was beat, but it also was high helmet to helmet contact that is always flagged as a target. I thought that was reviewable?

In any event the sideline judge who failed to make the call has no business reffing again. I don't know how another ref didn't see it either

The NFL does not have targeting and can't review it. The worst they could do, if not flagged during the play, is fine the DB.

The PI was obviously worse but the no calls on the saints delay of games were ridiculous. Is there any easier call to make in any sport than delay of game? How do you miss it twice? Taysom doesn’t get a touchdown in they call it (one was the play before his touchdown).
