Is there a chance that either Hawkins or Tatum come in as a WR? Getting Hill would be a huge get in my opinion!aggies22 wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2019, 8:17 amIf Cooper Legas signs with us, there is no way he will count toward the 2019 class. He will either be a push forward or a sign and send.
As far as Hawkins is concerned, we gave him a home visit last week, so I would imagine there is still high interest in him.
I still think we'll get Hunter Hill but I think Liloa Kapiko is headed for San Diego State. I wasn't a huge fan of Kapilo's anyway.

I think Tatum is coming as a CB. We were originally recruiting Hawkins as a CB but with the new staff, I guess plans can change.GeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2019, 8:28 amIs there a chance that either Hawkins or Tatum come in as a WR? The ONE thing that really concerns me is we have 8, yes EIGHT scholarship WRs and there is no sign of us recruiting anyone else beyond Ajani Carter and Brandon Pierce. We have backed off Reggie Colson, so I really hope the new staff has some summer signing ideas up their sleeve.

Re: Recruiting wish list
I was not overly impressed with Mariner or Repp. Personally, I'm hoping that ship has sailed. There haven't been any rumblings of any other grad transfers. I think the new staff is really trying to get creative and push several 2019 kids forward. If we fill all 25 of our 2019 scholarships, we'll still only be at 75 or 76 total scholarships, so there is plenty of room for summer signings or some walk-ons to get scholarships.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2019, 8:54 amWhat about Mariner? I guess at this point, IF Logan Maxwell and Akili Arnold are still in, we have 5 spots left. My wish list would be RB Tyreese Jackson, WR Ajani Carter, WR Brandon Pierce, OL Hunter Hill and ATH Jojo Hawkins. Hill is possibly a sign and send so that would open one more up. For as many guys as we are still targeting this staff has to have something up its sleeve.
In the USUFans twitter feed you'll see that we've offered Broson Olevao from Highland HS. My colleague Seth has learned that his offer is as a sign and send. I'm guessing he'll sign with us as well.

Re: Recruiting wish list
So far it doesn't look like anyone is on Johnson's radar. How does he not know a top 25 team? or Jordan Love? You would think he follows FBS college football since his goal is to one day play at that level. I wonder if he has academic hurdles that are complicating the matter?
Also, do we have any interest in Clinton Allen at WR? He and Pierce are similarly rated but have very different skill sets. Allen has great hands, catches everything away from his body, and looks like a bulldog to try and take down after the catch.
I do like Pierce with his speed and home run ability but I would still like to see us pursue someone with some size and ability to snag balls in traffic and move the chains - Allen looks more like the guy that can do that.

Re: Recruiting wish list
I'm guessing much like with Reggie Colson, Clinton Allen just isn't quite polished enough for the FCS level. When I looked at Allen's film and stats, they were very good but I questioned Allen's speed and wondered if he could be bulked up to a TE. I know that Reggie was told they were moving in another direction, after the new staff initially showed interest in him. What that direction is seems to be a mystery.Aglicious wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2019, 9:40 amSo far it doesn't look like anyone is on Johnson's radar. How does he not know a top 25 team? or Jordan Love? Re: Recruiting wish list
Looks like we are interested in Dontae Mcmillan as well still. I was thinking that at some point we had lost interest, but I was wrong. Wonder with taking all of these guys Akili is going another direction? Pure speculation here though. I would guess with the competition he will commit here, but maybe he will be a push forward.

He's a good athlete but it's okay. Weber State is going to get a good player. On another note, my colleague Isaac had learned that Akili Arnold is still IN!!

That shirt makes me sick. As a lifelong Idahoan, minus a few years in Logan, I never want Idaho and California in the same sentence. And yet now they share the same word.aggies22 wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2019, 2:59 pmSo does that mean we only have 49 states?AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2019, 2:24 pmSome guy in Nampa says ID and CA are the same....

Re: Recruiting wish list
With Pierce out of the picture and with the recruiting of additional CBs and Safeties, I am getting more concerned about the WR position. I really like Carter and Lampkin but can we really rely and freshman to be impact players. Don't get me wrong, freshmen can definitely have an impact, but that is usually the exception. I also think that Green was the exception for a grad transfer. We might have some grad transfers lined up, but overall, we will need a few breaks for the WR position to pan out. Am I overreacting?

I don't think you're overreacting. While WR is one of the easier positions for freshmen to come in and play immediately, there sure appears to be a lack of attention paid to an obvious position of need.GeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑January 24th, 2019, 9:56 amWith Pierce out of the picture and with the recruiting of additional CBs and Safeties, I am getting more concerned about the WR position. No, I was jut thinking of all the CBs we're bringing in. Shaq Bond is rehabbing and will be back sooner than later and I remember Jordan playing corner and slot so I though maybe CB could be a dual threat....aggies22 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2019, 10:23 amWhile that is true, I just don't see anyone on our roster who could make the move. I think we will. With who we are targeting the rest of the way, I would like to see us land Hunter Hill, Cole Thomas, Tyreese Jackson, AJ Carter, Jojo Hawkins and Dorian Hewitt.
