Hintze was our punter last season after Dalton went down.

Sr. Chance Parker S - Dude is fast and had some good minutes through the rotations. Had a big fumble recovery against New Mexico. I'm a bit bummed he's leaving, but I think we are fine with Shaq and Braxton.
Jr. Taylor Hintze P - Good punter (averaged +40 YPP). I think Taylor was pretty productive overall, but he did have a few bad days.
Jr. Connor Myers OL - Didn't play much
Jr. Chance Nelson LS - Didn't Play at all (RS)
Jr. Keith Tambe DE - Didn't Play. I thought Keith would come in and have an instant impact. I guess we'll never know.
Fr. Simian Matagi OLB - His bio says he played in the Texas Tech game. I don't remember.
Fr. Tate Shumway ILB - Didn't play at all

Overall, I'd say we didn't loose too much except experience at punter and a fast S in Chance.

Logan Lee at TE is intriguing. Played WR in high school so he should make the transition without issues. I like Andersen at DE too. Would like to see him a little leaner by fall. Not necessarily lighter, but leaner. He was a beast in HS and it hasn't quite materialized yet for USU. Maybe this will be great for him.

Chance Parker was Medically Disqualified. Had several bad concussions that were causing a lot of problems off the field.

I hadn't heard that. That's too bad, the kid was a hard worker.

Is Tate related to Talon...Shumway? Too bad we lost Chance Parker. He had good size and was a very good athlete.

Tate is from Arizona so while the relation could be possible, it's probably not likely.

2019 Spring Football Roster Changes

Post by AGGIEinIOWA » March 12th, 2019, 1:09 pm

I see we have a new walk-on WR (Derek Wright) under your new additions list. 6’1” / 190 and Nine TD’s and 800 yards at Snow last year. His tape looks pretty good. Not a burner but decently fast and athletic with good hands and use of his body. Anyone see him play or have a take on if he has a chance to contribute? I know we are all a little worried about that position group.
