Re: Fua out for season?
Two words. Not Good. This crazy thing about it is he came back in and played.

He might be eligible for a 6th year since his redshirt was used because he transferred.

Ouch. That hurts. Our defense really got banged up against Wake.
Thank goodness there's about a 22 day break between Wake and the next difficult game.

Re: Fua out for season?
That sucks for him, he was going to have a really big year. That is a huge blow to our team. Not only did we lose the game, we also lost arguably our best defensive lineman. Hopefully the guys can rally and keep pushing along.

He is our best defensive lineman and it's not even close.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑September 5th, 2019, 9:19 amThat sucks for him, he was going to have a really big year. That is a huge blow to our team. Re: Fua out for season?
oh man....I was so happy when he shook his head that he was okay to the coaches and came back in after running around for a bit on the sidelines. this is a big loss.
Wildman did play well in his absence. Does Mo now come back over to DL?

Re: Fua out for season?
This brings up the obvious question of bringing Uasike back over to DL?
ALSO, 22, I have been wondering....where does Heninger fit on the depth chart now? What about Bannerman?
Could you perhaps give us a rundown of your percieved 2-deep on the Dline with Fua out for the season now?

That really sucks for the team and him personally. He is a beast and will be missed.

Re: Fua out for season?
At this point it seems like a move that has to happen. Even before this injury 3 of the 4 DT's in the two deep are seniors and seems that Mo would be needed next year. So Mo would've been needed as a DT next year, but now it seems he's needed this year.
Maybe I'm crazy but I felt like he was a good defensive lineman. This move continues to be puzzling to me. I would love to hear someone ask Gary about it in an interview.

Re: Fua out for season?
Uasike got some time on the oline in the wake game. Not saying he shouldn’t be moved over but he is a contributor on that side as well.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 5th, 2019, 10:36 amAt this point it seems like a move that has to happen. Re: Fua out for season?
If there is one silver lining in this Fua news, it would be that he will almost certainly get cleared for a sixth year of eligibility and relieve some of that turnover concern for the DL next year. That is, of course, assuming that Fua is amenable to the idea of coming back and not starting his life with his family. I believe he has a young daughter and a significant other (not sure if spouse or girlfriend) in the picture.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 5th, 2019, 10:36 amAt this point it seems like a move that has to happen. Re: Fua out for season?
22, what do you see the D line looking like now? Nick played well against Wake, as did Wildman. Depth would seem to be an issue, but Ena and Anderson will square things up. We've got talented guys, so it will be interesting to see this develop.

It looks like the account has been suspended. Can anyone give those of us who missed it an update on what it said?

Re: Fua out for season?
Basically said he couldn't believe he had played in his last game this season but his teammates were going to work toward the MWC championship anyway.

Re: Fua out for season?
This where I see things now. Not really much of a change to be honest. Losing Fua is going to hurt but Hale and Soni are going to have to step up. The trio of Hale, Soni and Caden Andersen are all interchangeable and that makes things much easier to plug and play. Soni has played plenty in the past and Hale is VERY talented.utahcountyaggie wrote: ↑September 5th, 2019, 10:31 amThis brings up the obvious question of bringing Uasike back over to DL?

Nick did play well in limited snaps and I'll bet we see more of him this weekend. I think the next two weeks will be very telling as to where Nick will fit in the remainder of the season.
Jaylen Bannerman started fall camp backing up Tipa and quickly fell down the depth chart. I don't think that he's adjusted well to the jump in talent at this level.

Re: Fua out for season?
Thanks 22...Bannerman has been a puzzle for me. For a kid who started out at Kentucky, I thought we would see more out of him during camp. Just never materialized.

Re: Fua out for season?
Are we really expecting Lavalle to be a defensive tackle? I thought they were putting him at DE. Will he have the size to be a D-Lineman. I thought he would have been a good linebacker as well.aggies22 wrote: ↑September 5th, 2019, 12:33 pmThis where I see things now. Not really much of a change to be honest. I know the coaches were VERY high on LaValle. Hope he can step up and provide some help up front. Wasn't he going to redshirt this season?Aggie84025 wrote: ↑September 5th, 2019, 3:30 pmAre we really expecting Lavalle to be a defensive tackle? I thought they were putting him at DE. Re: Fua out for season?
The four game red shirt rule should help a bit. It should give LaValle some time.
