CSU Odds

Post by Aggie84025 » September 22nd, 2019, 5:38 pm

Opening odds for the CSU game is USU -22 or -20.5. Does this seem super high? They have scored over 30 points in all of their games on offense. I know their defense has been bad, but the games with CSU have always been tough.

That’s a lot of points to cover.

They lost at home to the same Arkansas team that San Jose beat on the road.

Personally I would have expected about a 17 point spread

Really about what it should be. Our current Sagarin rating is 31 and theirs is 119.

The game does have my attention. Last year in Ft. Collins still resonates.

They lost their experienced QB. The Aggie secondary still has some issues but I think its going to be a hard go for the Rams in Logan to put up more than 20 against a front 7 that is finally coming together in the new D.

I get nervous for every game, but that is just my inner Aggie taking over.

They rolled up 694 yards of TO against Toledo. We'll have our hands full.

[I agree I think we will score some points, but worry about our secondary coverage against a team that sling it around.]

Yes NV, I get the pregame jitters every pregame, and it's not just your inner Aggie. CSU isn't chopped liver, they did have a solid offensive output against Toledo even thought their defense failed to step up.

CSU has at least one really fine running back and a couple of fine receivers. The new Q B now also has a full game under his belt, and when he went in after their starter went down against Arkansas he then led them to a touchdown.

Qb is a Nebraska transfer. They also have a 6’6” receiver that looked really good for the 5 mins I watched them this year in Jackson. Could see some match up issues for us there.

There defense has been very suspect.

I would bet that our defense is better than Toledo even with our secondary the way that it is. Even if it becomes a shootout, we will easily outshoot them by a decent margin. It’s gonna be a lot of fun

Toledo is currently ranked 119th in total defense. Their opponents average 480ish yards per game. They are a trrbl defensive team.

I just watched that game and CSU doesn’t concern me at all.

I think it sounds right. Our offense is going to break out, it's a matter of time. The D is much improved from our last game.

Watched the highlights from that Toledo game, they burned CSU with their sweeps. Once they got to the outside, they put the "Rockets" on and took off. Our speed is better.

It will be interesting to see how we take advantage of this weakness. Could we see Scarver and Hot Sauce with a big gains?

I not saying Toledo has a great defense, but if you exclude what CSU put up on them, they are only giving up 375 yards a game.

ESPN now has it at 24.5 points. There are only six other teams favored this week by more points against FBS competition: Clemson, Alabama, UCF, Michigan, Oklahoma and Southern Miss.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I hope we are in a position to play Columbi some in the second half. Maybe even Legas or Calvin a couple series. Also get our young linemen another game towards their 4.

[Me too, the 24 points seems like a really high spread. I certainly hope we cover it, but after the game with them last year I am thinking it may be similar.]
