Obligatory ref complaint thread

Post by Aggiefever » September 22nd, 2019, 7:15 pm

It seemed like we had already snapped the ball before the refs blew the ball dead after the Mariner catch. Was there a delay in the audio or did the refs mess up? I was surprised that the announcers didn’t say more about it.

I agree with this. Cost us the first down there and added some stress at the end. I felt the ball was snapped and he had nearly made the first down before it got blown dead.

Luckily we won. It is what it is. But I would be ticked about this very play had it cost us the game.

This made me mad as well. This was a drive killer. We would of had a first down.

Refs only do $hit like this to us. The Mountain West Conference hates us.

Plus, they blew it for contact, there was no contact.

Earlier in the game they quick snapped when SDSU jumped, but there was no flag.

I think they blew it after we snapped the ball. The ref also should've called holding on the CB instead of PI, because the contact was happening before the pass was thrown and tipped.

The muffed punt with three of our guys on top of it should've been blown dead immediately as well. Instead the ref waited for their returner to come over and wrestle it away, but once our guys had two hands on it with their knees on the ground the whistle should've been blown.

There was a PI against Mariner which occurred in the endzone, but instead of having the ball placed on the 2 or 3 yd line (can't remember) we got a 15 yard penalty.

Don't get me started on the missed holding calls.

I hate to point at refereeing after a game but this was a classic MW crew performance.

Honest question. Are MWC or PAC12 refs worse?

I know who is better, the local little league guys.

I did see this as delay that shut our drive down when it looked like we were on a roll. Seems as though we eventually did get a field goal out of that drive. There were a number of questions I had from the officiating of that game, like their declaring an officials time out and ultra tight management of the clock which, as IIRC, broke down another drive we were moving with. I've honestly not seen anything quite like that and I've seen a lot of football games.

No we ended up not getting the first down and had to punt and that's when they muffed the punt and then went on that scoring Drive.

Penalty stats:

USU 3/30
SDSU 7/61

Could they have been better? Sure. But we did alright. And I’m glad they were on top of the clock. The clock team was terrible.

I thought they are one in the same, but maybe that’s just hoops.
