Sad to think there was a time Washington beating Oregon State was the third biggest upset of all time.

The two biggest upsets in history (and three of the top 10) were all in 2007. I remember SBNation had a big piece arguing that 2007 was the craziest college football season of all time. I remember they ranked the biggest upsets that year and I don't think the Navy/Notre Dame game made their list.

I did a quick Google search and found it:

Navy/Notre Dame made the list, but it wasn't in their top 10.

Oregon State beat Washington. That was the upset. Apparently it would have then (in 1985) been the second biggest upset of all time.

I’m not sure why it was such a big deal. Washington didn’t have a great season in 1985. They lost early in the year by four touchdowns to BYU (in a matchup of the previous season’s #1 and #2) and also lost at home to a 4-7 Washington State.

Maybe they were still overrated from their 1984 success.

WUT! Some gems from that one

4. ULM 21, ALABAMA 14 (-24.5)
Nick Saban’s first Bama team was a lot better than you remember, other than the fact that it lost to a mediocre Sun Belt team.

However, it lost to a mediocre Sun Belt team.

UTAH 44, NO. 11 UCLA 6 (-15)
If you beat Vegas by 53 points, you must be mentioned.
