Blocking on screens

Continues to be a problem.

Sure, LSU is good, but this has been a problem all year.

Stop going to the outside. They are faster, by a lot.

Quick short passes on first down seem to be working

Anything horizontal is getting destroyed

Wish that he’d thrown to bright on the screen to Nathan he had tons of room on that side

Red zone and turnovers continue to kill our offense

Jordan has thrown a lot of screens to guys that had no blockers and a defender within 2 yards. He'd be better off just throwing those away.

Blocking on screens

Post by Full » October 5th, 2019, 1:45 pm

The first play I noticed this on was around 13:40 left in the second quarter on a screen to Nathan. The safety knew where the ball was going before the snap and it was highlighted by the broadcast team. Tough when the defense can tell a screen is coming before the snap.

100% this.

Our O-line did a beautiful job of this last year, but haven’t quite figured it out this year

I think this is coaching and design because Yost's offenses ran this well and so did Wells' in 2012 when he was JUST an OC. Need better disguise and timing and have to run it in unpredictable situations. I still remember Kerwin Williams going to the house on the first play of the game at La. Tech in 2012.

Need planned Asymmetry 😀.

Lsu is known for bad screen defense. Bet we were working on it big time in the off season.
