Awesome - hopefully the game will extend into the the witching hour so then the kloogers will turn into pumpkins and roll off the field to avoid playing on 'Sundee

Well you can count 2 of us Wasatch Aggies being there.
Hopefully the cold keeps the Utah County crowd south of point of the mountain.

Unfortunately, I think the ridiculous win over Boise is going to renew faith in that crazy fanbase.

Ahem, I’ll have you know that we were there until the bitter end on Saturday and already have a family suite at the Baugh for the BYU game.

Honest question why is this game so much more important than MWC games ? I actually give my club seat tickets for the Y game to a ewe of ewe alum, I may be odd but I care much more about the BSU, and Wyoming games.AndroidAggie wrote: ↑October 21st, 2019, 10:54 ami managed to schedule a work trip such that i'll be in town for this one. driving up from SLC the day of and tailgating all day until 8PM

If we could win our division of the MWC and host the other division champ, with a chance to play a pac-12 school in Vegas is the big prize for my me. I would never think of giving up my ticket for the BSU or Wyoming games.

I'll be there along with a ton of folks I know that come up from Weber, Davis, salt lake, and even Utah counties. It is the cache valley Aggies that I am always disappointed with.

Actually I do not know why, perhaps not being LDS has something to do with that, because I do not have contact with them all that much. I have never been on their message board. It matters for in State recruiting, aside from that, it doesn't matter.

Gonna be interesting when the game is a sellout and we have to hear the anti-late game crowd justify why that is.

Every game matters. Especially In-State rivalry games. If I recall correctly , Chuckie was at the 2010 BYU game, which we won and possibly persuaded him to come to Logan instead of AF.

If it were a choice between winning the AF or Boise game or winning BYU I would choose the AF or Boise game any day of the week. This game used to be bigger for me, but now that we have beaten them so frequently I want to see the team win the MW. That being said this is big game in terms of in state recruiting and bragging rights. I hope we throttle them, but we shall see.

Recruiting!! Isn’t there a couple ‘committed’ cougar kids attending on an visit, official or not? Chuckle was sold, not because it was BYU there, but the atmosphere and crowd. A sell out, with rowdy students/fans is a better atmosphere than our 15-20 k attendance.

Re: BYU Game @ 8:00 on ESPN2
It’s a rivalry. Bragging rights around the dinner table at thanksgiving, a lot of families have split loyalties between the schools. Uncle Steve BYU fan could care less if the Aggies win the MWC if BYU beats them. It’s a huge deal to people. Over 100 year history. Not hard to understand why it is so important to folks.oleblu111 wrote: ↑October 21st, 2019, 11:44 amActually I do not know why, perhaps not being LDS has something to do with that, because I do not have contact with them all that much. I'll be there with the very fetching Mrs. LKGates (I'll tell you, that woman gets better looking every day) for our very first game in our new season ticket seats! My sister and her boyfriend (feels odd calling a 78 year old a "boyfriend") used them for the first two games.

Another reason for people to attend games. If you want a good program you need good players. The atmosphere of the game means a lot to these kids.

I believe the reality is more that the Y has been abusing and screwing Utah State at every turn since the idea of forming the WAC reached a conversational level and a very successful Utah State was left out of the new conference. There has been palpable bad blood between our schools over time.oleblu111 wrote: ↑October 21st, 2019, 11:44 amActually I do not know why, perhaps not being LDS has something to do with that, because I do not have contact with them all that much. I personally don't concern myself with the politics or religion of others as that's a wheel spinning non starter in my world. It's easy for me not to enjoy many of the fans or administrators of that school from Provo for events since 1961 and even before.

Re: BYU Game @ 8:00 on ESPN2
1. The BYU administration (and the UofU) spent a significant amount of effort trying to destroy USU sports for 40 plus years. Excluding USU from the initial regional conference formation in the 1960s and then working to freeze them out completely thereafter. (We were able to join a local/logical conference only after both of them had left.)oleblu111 wrote: ↑October 21st, 2019, 11:44 amActually I do not know why, perhaps not being LDS has something to do with that, because I do not have contact with them all that much. 2. As noted above the fans are next level annoying.
3. Their team played very dirty football for many years, building up lots of grudges.
The level of annoyance runs deep for many of us. Intellectually we know the MWC games are important, but the satisfaction of grinding BYU into the dust is cathartic. My wish for BYU is that they erode into a meaningless irrelevant dismally preforming program which we wouldn't even consent to play against. That they get so embarrassing that the LDS church cancels the program.
While I don't like Boise, AFA, Fresno, SDSU, or any of our MWC foes, my wish for our MWC conference foes is that they get *better* (winning every out-of-conference game in a perfect world) but we still beat them. I bear them no existential animosity, but BYU on the other hand has my complete existential animosity!

Re: BYU Game @ 8:00 on ESPN2
Hey it’s OK to not like BYU.
In sports we all have teams we cheer for and cheer against.
Personal experiences usually provide the reasons for one or the other.
I am an Aggie and have had many negative experiences with BYU sports fans.
On the academics side I am OK with BYU. It’s a good school (not great) and I have many friends in the academic side and that have gone there. That aren’t really sports fans.
But on the sports side I have to many personal negative experiences with their fans . So I cheer against BYU.
For the most part I find them comical. They tell everyone that they are obsessed with them while they are obsessed with the U (Hypocritical). They tend to know very little about sports (see the yearly Heisman and national championship talk), they just cheer for BYU because they are church members. And for the most part those that live far out of state and out of country I get it . They think they are cheering for the church . Much as some Catholics think they should cheer for Notre Dame.
But they are all deluded the Church is not encapsulated in one school anymore than the Catholic Church is encapsulated by Notre Dame.
So yes I can’t stand BYU fans and therefore I do cheer against them. They can call me names But I am an Aggie. And if that’s all they can call me then it makes me happy I am proud of that label.
I am an Aggie.

If you didn't grow up in Utah, you won't get it.
Being told by your peers when you're 7 that you have to cheer for BYU or you're a bad person.
Having elementary school teachers tease you for not wanting to high five their life-sized Steve Young and Ty Detmer cutouts.
Institutional stuff doesn't help, but the personal abuse breeds a life-long resentment.
Living side-by-side with loud-mouthed, obnoxious, smug fans at school, work, and church. Especially during the 80s and 90s when they could rub your face in every game and season.
