“They did some things on tape we had never seen”

Shaq Bond just said this on the radio about AF. When was the last time someone said that about our offense?

Certainly no one has said that about our offense this year. We have zero creativity.

Perhaps the offense could be called creatively boring and unproductive.

I think he meant kick someone's (I can't express myself without swearing) with both feet at the same time. Never seen before tonight.

Man, if players are saying that, then the coaches failed even worse than I thought. AF’s O remarkably simple. 5-6 staple run plays (“triple option” but it’s actually a pre-snap tendency-based double option)and every 10 plays or so they’ll throw a wrinkle in that isn’t on film to catch you by surprise because your DBs are cheating the run.. This what they’ve done every game for years and years. Defeating the triple option has always been about simple assignment football. When broken down it becomes extremely simple, and we had blown assignments right and left. Dudes turning in full circles wondering who on earth had the ball. Just horrible horrible coaching.

Pretty sure Gary is aware of this. Now why Bond felt like something was new, or why the coaches didn't teach it better is beyond me.

I've already said this in another thread but I'll say it here too. The scary $hit is, we've been religiously devoting practice time to stopping the Air Force run game since SPRING BALL!!

Wow...Just wow. AFA did nothing they haven't done every week since 1970. Yeah, they did go from wishbone to wingbone...10 years ago.

What film did Ena show them. I mean the qb sometimes kept the ball, and when they really wanted to confuse the Aggies with the new tangled offense the Qb pitched it!

It's so not fair when a team surprises you with new tangled gimmicks. At least they weren't dirty enough to trick the Aggies with a forward pass. That would have been too much.

I say it every game.
Never seen a team call the exact same running play all game, every game.

Never seen a team refuse to run any misdirection. Ever.

Never seen a team be purposely predictable.

Never seen a playbook obviously scribbled on the back of a 3x5 card in crayon - the entire playbook mind you.

AMEN!!! The defense looked awful right from the first drive. The D got no push and was running backwards the entire night. The coaches should be embarrassed.

The D did look good for one snap...the very first one of the game when they essentially allowed no gain and Hammond went down with some sort of injury. After that, it was 8-10 yards per run untouched for the rest of the game - not even a defender in the picture most of the time. I've never seen anything like it against an Aggie D since the "turn around". Stopping the run is usually our calling card.

Whoa there. In the 2nd half Shaq Bond made a great play for a loss of 3 yards to make it 3rd and goal from the 9 before Air Force walked into the end zone on the next play without a defender within 10 feet of the runner. Me and my surgically repaired broken leg could have scored that one.

I wonder what he is talking about here. That just seems weird considering the opponent.

I got to the point where I thought the AF players weren't on the ground because of injury, but because they were doubled over in laughter. "You mean we only have to defend against three plays the whole game?"

It’s a good thing they saw it on tape before the game started. At least they had seen it on tape by then.
