Game day experience fail

Post by MWCFAN12 » November 3rd, 2019, 9:34 am

I think our game day experience is absolute trash. Why the police don't help people get to the stadium and get parked is beyond me.
The parking lot to the south of the stadium the "b" lot was an absolute joke trying to get in and out of and took nearly a half hour just to get in the parking lot and get parked.

Putting the BYU band right above the students was a fail. We shouldn't even be allowing other teams to bring their band.

Trying to get into the stadium with the security and the bag check in the blanket check in the pat-down was a joke as well.

And as has been discussed before we might as well close down our concession stands. They can't get anything right there's 35 people in there and only two doing anyting.

And then the bathroom situation is beyond awful. They are actually making it very hard to continue to come to games.

NEVER let the opposing teams band in!! And I won't get concessions at our games because I go to watch the game NOT stand in line for nachos and miss an entire quarter.

I have no problem with allowing opposing teams to bring their band. We always take the band to Provo. If you are arriving with only a few minutes to spare the bag check could be annoying, but i have not found it to be much of an inconvenience. As far as concessions go there are going to be lines. I always try and get their 30 minutes early before the game or go mid-way through a quarter when their is a tv timeout which are usually 3 minutes. Same thing for the bathrooms as well, but your are right it definitely gets congested. That being said I can live with all these things if the product on the field is enjoyable which they are not right now.

I was on campus ( driving ) at 6:45 and didn't get into the stadium until 7:50.

The BYU band was so loud you couldn't hear anything. They were even playing during plays. And we shouldn't be taking our band on the road either.

The bathrooms on the east and south side are an absolute joke

The walkway on the east side is beyond ridiculous and has been for 40 years and has never been addressed

Why are they making everyone unfold their blankets as they walk into the game? What are they afraid people are bringing in? Food ? An extra bottle of water?

Anyone know who I can contact about parking? We have two paid passes and wasted time going into an already more than full lot. Ended up having to park three blocks east of the cemetery, walking down, and missing the 1st quarter.

What’s the point of having paid reserved parking if you’re going to let more cars in than there are spots? Stupid.

Speaking of game day experience-the large video board was a complete waste of money. We rarely show replays at all, especially if it was a controversial play. There are huge gaps in play during televised games when there is plenty of opportunity to utilize the boards.

It was pretty funny when the announcer didn’t realize his mic was on and blurted out “geeze”

I had some hot drinks I smuggled in...

The bathrooms are a joke...

The offense and defense were a joke...

It is true that winning helps us ignore this.

Those who were predicting 7-5 well that looks really good right now. So would any kind of offense or defensive changes.

A wise friend told me years ago that USU football will always be a donkey-dick operation. He's generally been right, outside of the anomalous 11-2 season once a decade yet even in those finest years our only sellouts will ever be Boise St or BYU where 20% of the ticket sales are to the BYU band. How we allow BYU to (I can't express myself without swearing) us with their overbearing and inconsiderate band (playing 5-8 seconds into many of our offensive snap counts, playing their extended version fight song over top of our PAID sponsor promotions during timeouts, hovering over the student section and blanketing the concourse above the top corner sections with standing room only tubas and pom pom girls) is unacceptable and an absolute shame on the USU ticketing and USU athletics departments. I know 50% of our fans are sympathetic to BYU and cheer for them beyond this game, and I get the religious connection as to why, but for myself and others who are not sympathetic to BYU in any way, it is beyond heartbreaking to see employees of our own university make decisions that would create an environment that hurts the program that employs them. If I were one of the paying timeout sponsors whose promotions were drowned out by BYUs band, I would have even stronger words with the AD. Maybe it's time to update the ticket entry policy...if you can't bring in an umbrella or water bottle then how about no goddamn trombones or tubas either.

Had the opposite experience. Got to Aggie ice cream just before 7pm was into the parking lot by 7:20 and in our seats by 7:30. The Aggie lights were cool but would be better but if the lights could be turned off

Didn’t we win 11 games twice this decade? How many schools can say that?

Aggie fans complaining? What else is new?

I arrived to the stadium at 4 pm to tailgate, there were no parking issues, because football is meant to show up early and have fun. If you think you can roll in right before kickoff and breeze into the game, you are your own problem.

There are NO “reserved” parking spots unless you are in one of the numbered cone spots in the A lot. Your pass entitles you to access to a lot but if you show up late and it is full, it doesn’t entitle you to a spot.

I walked into the stadium about five minutes before kickoff. I had a blanket, I simply shook the blanket and breezes through security. I do not understand how some of you folks continue to complain about security, either you are taking too much stuff into the game, are mad you can’t smuggle things in, or you’re just a complainer.

Bathrooms? Not sure what the south and East experience is like but the west side bathrooms are fantastic. Rarely lines, perfect access — here’s a thought: if you want a high end, high touch experience, buy tickets on the west side. If you want to have an experience with less frills at a lower cost, go elsewhere, but don’t act as if buying the cheap seats entitles you to the amenities of the new part of the stadium unless you’re going to pony up or at minimum invest the time to walk to the west side.

I had the exact opposite experience all night long, parked in the C lot with ease, tailgated my face off in beautiful weather, laughed as the PA system blasted music over the BYU band playing, security asked us to open our blanket and went in with ease, waited in line for about 30 seconds for a urinal, and had hot cocoa served to me at my seat.

Yep. Show me a stadium where you don’t have wait in a line or two other than maybe an empty one.

I sit midway up the center section on the east. We rolled in at 7:30 with a maximum 2-minute wait pulling into the top parking lot, parked 50 yards from the gate, walked right through with a very brief blanket check. Couldn’t possibly be easier or more convenient. Lines for concessions at the top can be long but I’ve never waited in a line for restrooms up there for more time than any other stadium I’ve ever been to.

Had the same experience. If you pay for a pass you should be able to park. Additionally, Handicap parking was full of non Handicap cars. That could potentially end in a massive law suite. Not good form at all.

At this point I would recommend not buying a parking pass as they are not worth the paper they are printed on.

That is crazy! I left my house at 7:35, parked on the street a few blocks a way (it was a bit of a walk), and we were in our seats 10 minutes before kickoff.

Boys, boys, peace please. Certainly the west side offers more accommodations than the east side because people are paying for said comforts. I have grief with the concession stands and slow service, and of course the untrained crew at the gates moving at glacial speed to process all the "TERRORISTS" than have purchased a game ticket and taken the time to actually show up at the Maverick.

If evil people really wanted to do something bizarre at our stadium, or any other stadium of their choice, a drone or more would do the trick. The rest is just for sterile and aggravating slow and show. Think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a little unknown nugget as well if you have a handicap spot you can park in any available spot permit or no permit they cannot legally stop you. Reserved or not reserved. So if you have a handicap sticker or decal and want to park in John Hartwell spot they legally cannot stop you

So you have a parking pass for lot B? I sit on the west side but only have passes for Lot D on the east side. It's quite the hike but I did arrive at 7:45 to my parking spot and was in my seat for the Aggie lights. I'll trade you parking spots. Seems like a win-win to me.

Didn’t we win 11 games twice this decade? How many schools can say that?

Funny you ask I was just looking up Boise’s last 19 years they have had at least 10 wins in 16 of the last 19 years! Their worst year out of the other 3 was an a paltry 8 wins! We don’t even compare!

Correct the on field BSU performance is much better than what USU has, perhaps it is because we fans spent $7 million on tickets and donations this last year while BSU fans spent $17 million, and that gap has been there for years.

Who said we did? He said we were a “donkey dick” operation. “Donkey dick” operations don’t win like we have won this decade. Sorry.

I'm actually really smart, probably smarter than you are so if you disagree with what I have stated in this post, you are likely wrong (and dumb).

Yeah, I agree that the best place to put the visiting band and big fan section would be the south endzone, just to let them be by their team. The big problem with the fan section being where it is at is visiting teams after the game will want to run right up to our sideline and students just to celebrate with their fans(or thank them for coming if they still have to desire to when we win) which is a setup for another BYU-Memphis Miami Beach Bowl. Whereas if the big fan section is in the southwest corner, the players just go to the southwest corner and have no reason to come over to our side.

The BYU-Memphis fight started cause of the Memphis fan section being right behind the BYU bench, so after the game clinching interception, the Memphis team ran right over to their fan section, which was perceived by BYU as them running to their bench so the fight started, where as it could have been prevented if the Memphis fan section wasn't behind the BYU bench and instead behind theirs giving them reason to run somewhere else instead. Likewise, after the New Mexico game where there was the terrible pass interference call and field goal chaos, the New Mexico players ran over to our sideline cause it was where their fans were which almost started a fight, but if their fan section was the endzone, they instead run to the endzone.

As for the band coming, besides the fact that they allow ours at their place, we have contracts signed for years with visiting bands coming, so even if we were to decide right now to not allow theirs anymore, and take with it them not allowing ours, it would take years for the current contracts to expire.

The visiting band should at least agree to either play only while they are on offense OR while they are on defense. I heard somewhere that bands will sometimes agree to only play while on offense, but someone in the band I was talking to about this told me that cause they prefer being quiet for their team's snap count on offense, they agree to play only while on defense, and NEVER while on offense.

I think the game day experience is fine. It sounds like maybe there are some issues on the east side.

I will, however, harp once again on something I complained about earlier - parking. Agree with others. You should NOT be selling parking when you don't have enough spots for your existing season ticket holders. Thanks for the info on who to contact. I'll be doing that.
