It definitely won't be Boise. Nevada is going to be headed there. Outside of that, Texas or Arizona would both be nice. One thing about the Arizona bowl, if anyone drives down they could hit the basketball game in Vegas the next day on the way home. Boise is definitely out though.

Also, no need to worry about payouts. Since the MWC places teams now where they think they'll be successful, payouts go to the conference and are distributed to teams from there.
Has Nevada accepted the Potato Bowl? As easy as it is to get to the potato bowl it would be nice to not go there. I can't imagine we would go to the New Mexico bowl again as we went their last year. Arizona would be awesome as well as Armed Forces. Nice destinations and warmer weather. I just am thankful to be going to bowls consistently. Never thought I would see the day. Looking forward to hearing the announcement and start planning my trip.

Nevada hasn't been announced to go to the Potato Bowl yet but unless something crazy happens between now and tomorrow that's where they'll be.

According to @TheGrandDanny on Twitter, we turned down the Potato Bowl and the New Mexico Bowl.

Is that even possible? Aren't you obligated to go the bowl the conferwnce assigns you to? Does this hurt our chances of going to other bowls. We certainly are in no position to be turning down bowls.

Danny is an idiot. We will likely never turn down a bowl bid, let alone two. Remember what happened to the last ME team to turn down a bid?

They stayed home

Actually it looks like @TheRealTO said that in response to TheGrandDaddy. I don't think we turned those bowls down as much as we just told the conference that we'd prefer to go elsewhere. If those were our only choices then we'd be going there. A 7 win team can't afford to turn down a bowl game...just ask La Tech how that worked out for them.

I agree we should never turn down a chance to play in a bowl game. It would be a huge black eye for our program.

I find it funny that some of these media guys think bowls are directly negotiating with the individual schools. This is all being figured out at the conference level with the media rights owners and bowl committees. Yes, I'm sure each MW school has voiced their opinion and desire of the bowls they would like to go to but the conference works with networks and bowl committees to come up with the match ups they think will sell the best. Avoiding repeat bowl participants and match ups that already occured in the regular season is all taken into consideration.

If we end up in a bowl outside of the ones with a MWC tie-in it will be due to showcasing Love. I personally don't think a matchup against someone like Iowa St. would end well for us but I suppose it would offer one more opportunity for the team to perhaps show up in a big game this season.

This year, I would be fine with the potato. I would like to see us get to use all of the practice time and the potato isn’t until January.

My preference is warm location, drivable, and as late as possible (January would be awesome).

I'm quite confused by your post. You are fine with the potato, but want a warm location?

I'm not that picky about bowls. It was only a few years ago we hadn't gone in forever. Part of the reason is that I'm rarely going to attend the bowl game so I probably can't complain too much about any bid we get. I will say that I will not attend the Idaho Potato Bowl again(I suppose if we got a decent opponent I'd reconsider). I'm just not super excited to stand outside and watch us face off against the MAC while standing in freezing temperature in Boise. Although I wouldn't mind avenging a bad loss against Ohio this year.

I don't get why anyone believes or talks themselves into even thinking we're going to the Potato bowl. We're not, now hopefully the team is healthy and plays at their best in bowl game.

Correct me if I'm wrong cuz I'm really not for sure but if I I know it properly I believe the conference pays all the travel expenses for the teams and then all of the money from the bowls goes into a pot and is divided amongst the bowl teams evenly? If that is the case it doesn't really matter about the payout because you're going to get the same either way. Other than the performance on the field I thoroughly enjoyed the Arizona bowl and would have no problem going back down to that one in fact it would be fantastic.

If I remember correctly the conference does pay travel. The $ goes into a pool the be spilt, but only 1/2 of the payouts from each bowl going into the pool. The other 1/2 goes to the team that played in the actual bowl game.

Starting to see more smoke that it will be Armed forces bowl. They have a great deal on their web site for tickets. 4 tickets, 4 hotdogs, 4 bag of chips and 4 drinks for $99

A Western Kentucky matchup would be interesting based on Sanfords history there.

I read yesterday that it was being announced at noon. The NY6 games aren't being announced until 1 though.

Yeah that is what I thought. Just dawned on me I am in the central time zone so it would be 1pm my time. Gotta wait another hour I guess... :cry:

Nah. Sounds to me like he's preemptively trying to get fans to buy tickets through the school because the cost will be higher for a bigger bowl game.

Could be. While the Spud Bowl is the only one I could realistically attend this year, I’ll be more happy if it’s somewhere better. Texas would be great.

I think it'll come down to the Arizona or Armed Forces, and it is basically us and SDSU playing in those games. I think we will get Armed Forces, because SDSU played in Texas last year in the Frisco Bowl.

Calling my shot...

Boise = Vegas
Hawaii = Hawaii
AFA = Cheez-it
SDSU = Arizona
USU = Armed Forces
Nevada = Potato
Wyoming = New Mexico
