Re: NAR: Bobo reportedly out at CSU
Colorado State this year reminds me of the 2016-17 Aggie football team. We went 3-9 that year similar to CSU going 4-8 this year. Also, CSU has lost a bunch of close games and we lost a bunch of close games in 2016. CSU almost beat Boise, Wyo, and hung in there vs AF and USU. They have only 3 losses by more than 15 points, so have been within a possession or two on all their losses. If they were in the other division they may very well be bowl eligible. I would have given Bobo another year or two.

I think Bobo has had his fill of the Mountain West. I think he's ready to return to the south. I'm sure he'll land somewhere as an OC or a QB coach.

I'm not the least bit surprised by this, though I am surprised that he made it another year tbh.
I went to the USU/CSU game last year, where I sat behind enemy lines, and the CSU faithful were already, visibly fed-up with Bobo.
I also chimed-in with some disguised Bobo rants.

I don’t think Bobo wanted to leave, but CSU wanted him fired. Here is the situation. Bobo was extremely well paid, but CSU wanted him gone. They couldn’t afford to pay out the rest of his contract, but they couldn’t afford to keep him. They had 12,000 against bsu on Saturday. So they negotiated it down.
Urban Meyer was on campus on Tuesday, but don’t expect him to be the coach. Ohio St rb coach Tiny Alford will probably be the next coach. CSU expects to win now and big.’

I would have loved for CSU to honor the rest of this deal.
I don’t like the idea of a competent HC at that program with those facilities.

CSU has greatly underachieved. There is real potential with that program. If they make the right hire they could be a 9+ win program.

Re: NAR: Bobo reportedly out at CSU
CSU gets a lot of benefit of the doubt. They won ten games in 2014, after eleven seasons of relative mediocrity, and then they slip right back into five more seasons of mediocrity, yet they are constantly treated as a one of the G5 gems. Meanwhile USU has had as many ten plus win seasons in the past seven years than CSU has had this century. USU has had more bowl games in the past nine years (counting the upcoming bowl game) than CSU has had in the past 15 years. Since the regular series with CSU resumed in 2011, USU has a 5-4 record against the Rams. Sure, CSU just built a new stadium, but USU has made major facility investments over the past eight years as well, including a major stadium renovation and the construction of the best strength and conditioning center in the conference (and one of the best in the country). Yet USU is constantly only mentioned in passing. It is like the national media says "Oh, USU had a good team with 11 wins. BUT HOW ABOUT COLORADO STATE WITH THEIR 3 WINS, THEY ARE A REAL UP AND COMER AND ONE OF THE TOP G5 SCHOOLS. THEY WILL BE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!"

Accurate post sword, yet the jury remains out on the Rams with P5 CU just down the road in Boulder. Certainly with that new glamorous facility they do get some looks from the media that sees size as the end all, but when have they filled their new palace to capacity? We have some similar problems with Fort Collins but we don't have a P5 competitor in Ogden.

Ft. Collins to Boulder is 90 minutes. Just like Logan to the U.
CSU is a sleeping giant that I'd rather leave still. If and when they get a good coach, they will be dangerous.

Agree that CSU is best left to it's own currently non rewarding and inept struggles, yet with the money to create their new football stadium we should see the results of really large amounts of money in a program. Still no guarantee of athletic success, but many of the trappings of the "big leagues". In actuality they are 55 miles away from Boulder....I 25 to an accessible turn off highway to CU..
It causes me some stress to think of Boise and CSU emerging as football powerhouses to our east and west.

Why is the jury still out on the rams? My point is that Colorado State has had one good season, five years ago, in the middle of 17 seasons of what can only be described as average at best football. Over the past 17 seasons they are 90-120, and the majority of those season featured no more than four wins. In other words Colorado State has been thoroughly mediocre for the entire lifetime of the kids they are now recruiting. In fact over that same time period, USU is the better program, with a 93-118 record, and that includes the entirety of the horrifically awful Brent Guy era! USU has more bowl wins over that time period, 4 versus 2, and as stated, USU owns the head to head record. I am just baffled as to why the national media considers Colorado State a gem, and falls all over themselves to sing their praises while USU seems to struggle to get a mention, even after an 11 win season.

Re: NAR: Bobo reportedly out at CSU
When you're a 7-5 G5 team record or performance have little to do with national attention. We need to be nearly perfect to get national attention, we werent so we arent. CSU was not perfect either but they could legit join the Big 12 for reasons that have nothing to do with performance.
