Re: MWC Head Coach tracker
I think Fresno and New Mexico have hired well. Fresno should be back up and running after a down year, although I'm not sure if that means 8/9 wins or 10/11 like in previous years under Tedford. New Mexico is a tough gig, and despite a good hire the Lobos still will likely be cellar dwellars for another two or three years after Davie went scorched earth and bet the farm on JuCo guys that didn't pan out.
I don't know enough about Arroyo to know if its a good hire, but UNLV is an interesting place to be right now. The Fertittas are willing to put a bunch of money into the program, and I think the NFL facilities they will share will only help them. UNLV is historically BAD at football, so much so that the hole they'd have to climb out of seems impossible at times. However, they may be primed for real, sustained success (nothing crazy, but definitely bowl eligibility and winning seasons).
Colorado State blew it. Addazio's former and current players dislike him so much they were openly celebrating his dismissal at BC. He doesn't move the needle much, was apparently helped A LOT by Urban Meyer in just getting this job, and has never worked west of Indiana. Colorado State has the infrastructure to be good, and I doubt anything comes of this hire. Bummer for the Rams, awesome for the Ags.

Urban wanted his man Addazio to be their guy, but Urban also knows Hill as Hill coached for Urban on their undefeated 2004 team. You would think Urban would know having a coach who knows the west would be an advantage.

Urban Meyer helped with the coaching search and after Addazio was hired, he hired Meyer's son in law as an assistant coach.bluegrouse wrote: ↑December 18th, 2019, 10:47 amWhat does Urban have to do with anything?
