Anderson Ready to Make Changes

I love the article that was just published in the Trib:

https://www.sltrib.com/sports/2020/01/0 ... wants-his/

In it, Gary Anderson addressed many of the concerns we have as a fan base. A few that stood out to me:

1. His defensive scheme next year will be based on the strengths of his personnel.
2. Thie Aggies will run tempo on offensive but it will be more selective with it as opposed to a full-time all or nothing strategy.
3. He plans to attack defenses with multiple personal looks and a QB whose's a running threat.

Great to hear, excited for next season, go Aggies!

Is he saying that Columbi is a great runner, or hinting about Peasley?

Those points make sense as they reflect his preferences from his first go round in Logan where he had a mobile QB, multiple formations on offense and an unpredictable defensive approach scheme-wise.

It's just odd as to why he didn't start with this approach knowing what he experienced the first time around.

Because even at 55 you are still learning in life. Gary learned this year and he’s making changes. That the sign of wisdom.

All the quarterbacks in the program are plenty mobile and are true dual-threat guys.

This article is the first time I’ve heard Andersen talk about the issues and it gives me hope they can be addressed. Part of my frustration has been with all the coach speak.

I love he also talked about missed tackling and fundamentals and technique. Good stuff.

It would have been a lot cooler if we weren't having those problems.

Good article. In order to run the spread the qb has to be a threat. He seems to have a plan in place. I like that the defense is going to see more schematic changes to fit personnel. We need to get stronger and tackle better. Seems to me he has a plan to get the team better. Excited to see how it plays out.

No it’s not, he came back to JLove and we all (I mean everyone) agreed to keep riding the scheme and not shake things up as much as possible.

I personally think (and have no inside knowledge) that he’s excited about getting it back to his philosophies.

I did like the article, but I'm also surprised that some of you needed to read it in an article to know that GA can identify where are deficiencies are.

Yes, still waiting to hear what Coach Andersen has in mind to address that side of the ball. Waiting, waiting, waiting.

Did you even read the article. If your hoping for him to tell you exactly what we will run next year I wouldn’t hold your breath. Blue Rufio is not talking about the article and plan.

He pretty much layed out where we need to improve and what they are going to do to try and fix it.

I don’t think anyone is surprised that GA can identify deficiencies. It’s just nice to read it in print and have some reassurance.

But, yeah, we get it. You’re better than us “doubters.”

He said what I have said all along number one we need to get more physical on both sides of ball, that must happen if it does not then what D we run or what O we run will not matter.

I liked the article. It tells me that Andersen has a plan. He has my support. Next year could be rough, or it could be good. Only time will tell.

That is really good news and I hope for some big changes on D. The offense will benefit too from creative diversity if he can find the right coordinator.

I don't think anyone ever doubted that Andersen could not see the issues. I think it was a matter of seeing some action taken and seeing some of his old fire and passion to make changes happen. I still have questions about the D-coordinator and his ability to use his players in a more aggressive and less predictable way. Guess we'll see.
