Re: Recruiting
That’s a bummer as I’m sure we would like to find another corner before signing day and this only leaves one more weekend to bring one in.aggies22 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2020, 3:24 pmI'm not sure if Estes will make it back or not? I'm waiting to hear back. I would imagine that since we wanted him in the first place we would bring him back out.CanuckAggie wrote: ↑January 24th, 2020, 2:35 pmDo you think Estes is still interested 22? Any chance he takes a visit later on?
Also, isn't the Robinson kid from Orem visiting? Would he be on scholarship?
Yes, Jakob Robinson is coming this weekend as well. BUT it is an unofficial visit. IF Jakob chooses to sign with the Aggies, from what I understand, the plan would be to put him on scholarship in August and he would become a "push forward" and count toward the class of 2021.

On a side note, how did we not get a visit from Jake griffin where his dad played here but he visits BYU. Dad should have done better teaching him.

Re: Recruiting
byu kids will always pray for the byu offer. Once that happens it's game over. Same story every year, just a different kid. I think he's going on a mission so he could still visit but I haven't really heard much about there being a mutual interest. I think there was interest initially. Here's a new name to keep an eye on. 3* OL Tai Marks from Mater Dei.

He does play center. Center wasn't a super consistent spot for us last year.slcagg wrote: ↑January 24th, 2020, 4:29 pmBut his dad was an Aggie. Re: Recruiting
So our qb recruit is visiting UNLV this weekend. Have we cooled in our recruitment on him?

Re: Recruiting
That is an understatement. I would say center was our weakest spot on the O line in terms of fundamentals. So many bad snaps and how many ineligible receiver downfield calls from that position?aggies22 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2020, 6:38 pmHe does play center. The fact he didn't sign early was a bad sign.
I'm cooling to him myself.
Just offer the Corner Canyon kid already a full and not a PWO.

Re: Recruiting
Do we need a 5th QB? I'd say use the scholarship on another spot else if Yaro is not committing.

Re: Recruiting
I know Yaro really liked Mike Sanford but with Bodie Reeder coaching at Eastern Washington, I'm pretty sure he knew him as well. At this point, the last I heard Yaro was still planning to sign with the Aggies.

Re: Recruiting
We are unlikely to have all four of these guys on roster two years from now, so don’t think of Yaro as the odd man out. At least one of Peasley, Calvin, or Legas will not finish his collegiate career as an Aggie QB.

Re: Recruiting
Is it possible that when he plays baseball, he favors his right hand? Our coaches probably read this thread (where they always get their information for important decisions) and discovered that many of our fans prefer lefties. That is when we immediately cooled off on recruiting him. Just my guess.

Re: Recruiting
I hope Yaro comes, but given the number of QBs on the roster and glaring needs we have at other positions, I have to think he was asked to hold off signing in December as we evaluated the recruiting landscape and our needs. If so, Yaro is rightfully doing the same.
It's possible that he just wanted to check out UNLV too though.

Re: Recruiting
Interesting suggestion ineptimus..., quite interesting. All those years ago, one of my team mates was a highly regarded and recruited prospect. He honestly enjoyed the attention and visits, yet still ended up being an AGGIE that played through his senior season. Yes, taking the visits, considering the educational prospects and enjoying the limelight before making a decision is a strong possibility.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑January 25th, 2020, 9:21 amI hope Yaro comes, but given the number of QBs on the roster and glaring needs we have at other positions, I have to think he was asked to hold off signing in December as we evaluated the recruiting landscape and our needs. I don't think I'll ever get used to the change in the university. Utah State University just sounds better than the University of Utah State. I guess I'll adapt, but I'll always favor USU over UUS.

Too bad about Griffin committing to a rival school, especially when he was an AGGIE legacy. Just too bad.

Last month I was at brunch at Sundance On a Sunday and the BYU coaching staff was there with a recruit. Apparently athletics gets a special exemption.ususports wrote:On the sabbath? Getting off to a bad start before he even steps foot on campus.

Re: Recruiting
DeMarcus is at Independence. He started this season and still has the Aggies on his list.
Re: Recruiting
I think the difference is that the first step toward first base for a lefty is just an extension of the follow-through. That isn’t how it works for a righty, so the left-handed swing looks more fluid. I was also ready to switch hit because it looked better from the left side.
My problem is that I couldn’t hit the curve from either side. I remember the first time I saw an actual curveball in a game ...

Re: Recruiting
22 how many more spots left? 3-4 right? Do you think we will fill all of these before signing day next week or maybe hold on to some of them?
For those spots let’s say Robinson commits (a kid going on a mission), would he count to that?

Re: Recruiting
By my count we have 4 spots left. One would go to the RB John Gentry if he commits. The last three could very easily be filled this weekend. Once we know who the last weekend of official visitors are, then we'll know how serious they are about filling the final few spots.
With several transfers and a couple of departures for the NFL, we should have some room for 5 or 6 grad transfer push forwards.
If a mission kid commits, he doesn't count against this years numbers. So it would actually give the illusion that we oversigned.
In the case of Jakob Robinson, from what I understand, the plan is to sign him over the summer so they can push him forward and still sign an immediate impact player next Wednesday.
