Visitors this last weekend before signing day?

Post by Roy McAvoy » January 31st, 2020, 9:13 am

I know Justice Ena and Otto Tia are visiting this weekend, but they're both headed on missions and we've known about them for a while.

Is there no other visitors this weekend right before signing day? If not, that tells me this staff really is going all in on leaving the spots open for transfer guys.

22 has a couple others listed over on the 247 site. Maybe I'll let him announce them.

These are the type of players we need!! Hopefully he enjoys his stay in Logan! What happened this last year and the year before with him?! He had 20 tackles, 1 sack, and a forced fumble his freshman year but then only had 3 tackles his next year. Then in 2019 it has not stats for him. Did he just never play as he got buried in the depth chart? It seems like he had a really good freshman year at a P5 school, so definelty has potential!

I think he may have been suspended in 2018 for some time.

An article i read said he took a medical retirement in august of 2019. The medical retirement is where the school can continue to pay for his education but does not have to count as athletic scholarship. Where he only played 3 games in 2018 before getting injured would he have 2 years to play?

Can you or Aggies22 give me a link? I'm a VIP member but I go through there and I don't see it posted?

We also just got a verbal commitment from 3* long snapper Jacob Garcia from Servite HS (CA). He is the #1 rated long snapper in the country.

Let me put this another way, this kid was long considered a sure thing to end up at Washington.

Here's more food for thought. Every long snapper that 247sports has rated in the Top 10 is going to a P5 school with the exception of one kid who is going to Fresno State. The #2 kid is going to Notre Dame.

Can we bring him in for when we go shotgun to snap the ball?

I kinda feel like we have our kicking recruits nailed down. Time to move on from long snappers and kickers and get a WR, RB and DB.

We have a Jr and RS F long snapper, do we need a third? Or is someone leaving?

And how many of these kickers/punters are on scholarship, and what kind of scholarships would these be?

Joey Rouly is a push forward scholarship. Ryan Marks will be walking on after his mission. I haven't talked to Jacob Garcia yet. Stephen Kotsanlee who signed in December is also on scholarship.

Yeah, I’m totally okay with keeping our ST elite. It was the only elite unit we had last year and won us some games

Given the massive impact that points and field position have on the game, it’s actually more surprising that more teams aren’t using scholarships for punters and kickers.
