Spring Practice #1

Post by ROLLEOVERHORDEMANN » March 10th, 2020, 10:18 pm

Too bad there won't be too many practices to go to but here's a two deep today:

Not practicing: Twelve players in yellow jerseys highlighted by Jordan Nathan, Keegan Duncan, and Andy Koch. Couldn't tell the other 9.

QB Colombi/Peasley
RB Warren/Lumsden
TE Terrell/Manu
WR Patrick/Scarver
WR Thompkins/Mack
WR Wright/A. Carter
OT Edwards/Meacham
OG Bloomfield/Owens
OC Aliifua/Dolphin
OG Shaw/Bowles
OT Hack/South

DE Tei/Hansen
DT Andersen/Fata
DE Moore/Trupp
LB Shelton/Bannerman
LB Meitz/AJV
LB Munoz/Willingham
LB Lefeged/Neves
CB Lampkin/Steele
S Bond/Thompson
S Tatum/Green
CB Adams/Jackson

Peasley couldn't hit the broad side of a barn today with his passing but man he is an athletic specimen.....maybe it's time to put him at WR.

Colombi-clearly is the #1, there is no debate, looked poised and can make all the throws.

Adams and Jackson at CB.....looked confident and made a ton of plays.

Meitz-I don't think he had his best day today.

Thompkins-the human joystick couldn't be even touched today on some plays......get that dude the ball please.

Coach Stacy Collins-man that guy is jacked up to be the D coordinator.......he demands hard work and effort, I think we will see some improvement from the defensive side this year.

Obviously no pads so there's not much else to say. Again there are a lot of players held out due to injury so take that chart with a grain of salt, but I wanted to share for folks that wanted to know.

Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts! I was disappointed I couldn't make it today! Faculty meetings man...

Thanks a lot for the thoughts on practice and depth chart update. Your comment on Peasley coincides with what I saw last fall camp as well.

Here's an article from the SLTrib on practice yesterday and the QB's:

https://www.sltrib.com/sports/utah-stat ... -era-over/

“Henry’s experience showed today,” Aggies coach Gary Andersen said. “He was by far the best quarterback out there today. I guess one would expect that, but I don’t think the other quarterbacks quite expected that.”

Thanks for posting! I had to leave early just as they were starting the team stuff. I'll be able to sit through all of practice on Saturday though and hopefully have beyond a two deep depth chart.

Looking forward to a report 22. What time are they going on Saturday?

Are we running the same offense this year?

New QB and new offensive coordinator, I would guess not. No one likes to watch that many pick sixes.

It's going to be very similar to what was run the last time Coach Andersen was here. Think about how we ran things during Chuckie's sophomore season. That's the goal.

Noelle Cockett sent out a statement that said all events on campus are canceled until April 8. Does this include practices?

Oh sorry. Must’ve missed that. I wouldn’t be surprised if they allowed them to continue to practice, but just closed them all to the public. I think there’s only four more that are open, including the Spring game.

From what I observed, It looks like we will lineup primarily out of a 2 TE/H back offense with one running back, it also appears really run heavy/playaction which I personally love

Like I've said in the past, go back and look and at how we used DJ Tialavea and Kellen Bartlett at the same time and other times when we lined Kerwynn Williams and Joe Hill up at the same time and how they were used. That is the type of offense they are hoping to return to. Good times!
