Not a Huge surprise. They recruited over him hard. A few P5 transfers..

I do like his game. He would be a solid pick up for someone.

I recall when both he and love were freshman, many mountain west writers liked him better.

Matt Wells probably owes his job to Armani Rogers getting injured. UNLV was kicking our butts until he went down a few years ago.

Maybe. I don't recall it being that pivotal of a moment for that team or the program, or even that game. The UNLV secondary was TRASH, as I recall, and Armani wouldn't have helped them much. 52 points would've been tough for them to overcome, even with Rogers.

And if we're being completely honest, I don't think we would've canned Matt for going 5-7 if we didn't can him for going 6-7. Still, it's nice to not have our winning streak over the Rebs interrupted. I think it currently stands at 5, and undefeated since we entered the MWC.

I guess we all have different perceptions.

I was there at the game and in the first half Rogers was unstoppable. And after he went out, their backup was atrocious. Like, really really bad.

We caught fire in the second half and blew the game out. It was easier to put up 52 points when their offense could barely manage a first down.

We will never know the fate of Matt Wells if we had ended up losing that game, but if I was him, I wouldn’t have wanted to find out.

Kenyon Oblad, a 6'3" Sophomore from Henderson NV looked promising last season, and he may well be more durable than Armani Rodgers who seemed to sustain any number of injuries. If UNLV has recruited over Rodgers, they may well have reached beyond Oblad at the same time. Stay tuned folks.

They signed at 5* transfer from TCU (Justin Rogers) that is coming back from a serious knee injury he suffered his senior year of high school. He claims he is 100%. I guess we'll see what happens.

Thank you 22. It appears UNLV wasn't secure with Rodgers or Oblad, and Oblad is listed as a Sophomore. Could be some roster movement in Vegas this season if the TCU transfer Brown ( what eligibility does he have remaining please?) makes the grade in the desert.

I believe Justin Rogers will be either a redshirt freshman or a sophomore.

I can tell ya'll that UNLV recruited hard in AZ and SoCal in 2019-20...they have changed 75%+ of their staff plus the amenities are increased big-time their with the NFL impact...Don't want to 'bore ya'll' with details but UNLV was very impressive in their push and treatment of kids at some of the Power HS Programs in AZ for sure. I can see them making a stronger push than ever in their division moving forward.....

Armani Rogers is one of those players with great natural ability who just never seem to be able to put it together. Big arm, great running ability. But he's not able to keep from getting injured. He could be a great QB if he'd stay in the pocket a little more.

Justin Rogers is a BIG Q B listed at 6'4" and 225 lbs. TCU beat Notre Dame for another highly rated prep Q B recruit last year, which may have influenced young Rogers to look at his options, the very same thing that may develop at UNLV and possibly at Boise this season.
