Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. Glad if we only have 2 OOC games we are playing byu. A shame we can't play Utah too this year. It would have been pretty lame had we played SUU or Idaho State instead of byu.
But yeah, we'll see if it actually happens.

As much as I want to see some Aggie football this fall I'm really starting to doubt we see any sports until next spring.

it looks like they are trying to re-schedule the game with SUU for a later date in the season since games cannot be played until 9/26. if that does happen it will get us to 5.

Penn State just announced that they won't be allowing fans. As much as I would love to be there. If this is the way we get football, so be it.

that is how i feel as well. i would love to attend games, but as long as I can watch the games on TV I would take for as crappy as the last few months have been.

Might as well just cancel it altogether. It won’t be gone in the spring.ustate98 wrote:As much as I want to see some Aggie football this fall I'm really starting to doubt we see any sports until next spring.

No known start time for fall camp at the moment? What does that mean?

Yeah I never bought spring football as an option. You aren't going to finish your season in April and then turn around and have another season a few months later.

Re: YBU is our first game of the season, will it happen?
Yeah I assumed if there was going to be a season there wouldn't be fans and if that can allow the season to continue, they should just announce there is going to be a season without fans. Keeping players under check will be what is difficult. You aren't going to put college football players all in a bubble like the NBA.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 6th, 2020, 11:03 amthat is how i feel as well. i would love to attend games, but as long as I can watch the games on TV I would take for as crappy as the last few months have been.

Since the goal has changed from “flatten the curve” to “zero cases”, spring is never gonna happen. Hell, the 2021 season probably isn’t either.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote:Yeah I never bought spring football as an option. Current Pennsylvania governor’s order only allows 250 in an outdoor group. If the order changes, Penn State will re-evaluate fans in the stands.

Re: YBU is our first game of the season, will it happen?
Yep, if the standard is going to be "we are not going to play until 0 or close to 0 players and personnel get the covid, not playing in 2021 is a real possibility. They need to adjust to the moment as other sports have done. Harder to do in college, but play without fans and have regular testing this year. The season should not be shutdown, but unfortunately that is the direction we are headed.2004AG wrote: ↑August 6th, 2020, 11:40 amSince the goal has changed from “flatten the curve” to “zero cases”, spring is never gonna happen. So if they don't then would we get a discount on our season tix?Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 6th, 2020, 10:58 amit looks like they are trying to re-schedule the game with SUU for a later date in the season since games cannot be played until 9/26. if that does happen it will get us to 5.

You have to think we could get another game considering the AAC, CUSA, and Sun Belt are all allowing a full 4 non-conference game schedule. Those teams had lost all their P5 games so I’d think there should be plenty of teams looking to fill in holes.
Also, could we play another MWC team as a non-Conf game? Say Hawaii, SJSU or UNLV?

Re: YBU is our first game of the season, will it happen?
A modest proposal:
It appears that CSU may not be playing football this season. So, let BYU take CSU's spot, with the following conditions:
All MWC-BYU games are home games for the MWC teams, including USU, with no change in the location of future games.
All revenue for said games goes to the MWC.
I know that seems pretty harsh, but in return, BYU gets a core of 8 games, plus whatever other games they can scrape together. Who knows, they could be one of the few teams in the country with a 12 (or even 13, if they play Hawaii) game schedule.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

When is someone going to stand up and say enough is enough! Honestly why are so many people afraid of this. Can't the sportswriters shed some light and truth about what is going on?

I couldnt agrew more. I think the administrators are afraid of the scrutiny and liability if something goes wrong. With how agressive the media is to scrutinize everything, i think they are afraid of the backlash. I truly believe we could have a season with few issues but i have zero confidence it will happen at this point.

What do you think the policy should be? Limited fans and masks?

Re: YBU is our first game of the season, will it happen?
Yeah it is a liability issue and the fear of a major outbreak that stops the season after it starts. College isnt like the pros where they can just start back up in a few months.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 8th, 2020, 8:27 amI couldnt agrew more. Re: YBU is our first game of the season, will it happen?
I would suggest 40-50% capacity and mask is the requirement. Since fever is one of the main symptoms i would also be fine with having to take your temperature before entering with one of those quick reading forehead thermometers.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑August 8th, 2020, 9:03 amWhat do you think the policy should be? I have been going to lagoon and they have protocols, i dont know of any major outbreaks linkwd to there. We have also been going to the pool everyday and following those protocols with no issues.
I honestly believe it is possible but there is so much fear mongering going on it makes it difficult.

No, it won’t happen.
The next Aggie sport we will see is an abbreviated college basketball season in early 2021.
If school is online, a bubble concept at the conference level might work for college basketball. Maybe I’m crazy for thinking that.

I agree although I might do about 25%. A shame college football didn't properly prepare for this. They had plenty of time.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 8th, 2020, 5:58 pmI would suggest 40-50% capacity and mask is the requirement. Re: YBU is our first game of the season, will it happen?
That is probably reality. Hopefully college basketball is preparing for this right now and not just doing the "hope for the best" approach which seemed like the football plan. To be fair basketball is much easier to do than football. Conference bubbles and maybe some preseason ooc bubbles a month before the conference bubble with good testing.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑August 8th, 2020, 7:22 pmNo, it won’t happen.
