He didn't see much time last year. Was he injured?

It was always odd to me he didn’t play more last year as I thought he recovered from his injury. I thought this year he had a good chance to start. Gary mentioned him a few times.

Sam Lockett is in the portal as well. I thought he did well on special teams.

He costed us the Woodward touchdown at Wake Forest with a penalty that had nothing to do with it.

Some on here thought the grad transfers were pretty much guaranteed a starting job I guess not always.

To be fair to Adams, that penalty was BS

Gary has said, if a grad transfer doesn't come in and start, he and his coaching staff have failed.

Regardless they must prove them selves in order to "challenge for a starting job ", obviously some do not get that done.

I remember Adams coming in super late prior to the start of last season. The announcer made that comment in the clip that he had only been in Logan for like a week prior to starting in that game vs WF. That is NUTS!! Then he negates an awesome strip-6 play by Woodward. A score that likely could've changed the outcome of the game in USU's favor.

The fact that Adams started in that game is outrageous. I would tell Gary to his face that decision was idiotic.

Did he mean a week before fall practice started ?

Precisely. I was going to post the same thing.

Nope. Terin came to Utah State two weeks AFTER fall camp started. He began his 2019 fall camp at Arizona State.

His transfer was publicly announced by ASU and reporters on Monday, August 19th and we played our first game on Friday, August 30th. So I think by the time he got to campus in Logan he had one week with the team before getting the nod to play in the season opener. Just seems so wild to me.

Who should've been starting over him? If I remember right, Haney was injured and out that game. It seems like DJ was the one that got picked on over and over against Wake. Am I remembering that right? It is strange for someone to start after being here a week, but I'd like to know what the better options were.

I think we also had to throw Lampkin out there in that game and he was a true freshman that had just made the switch from corner.

That's a great question. I wonder if 22 remembers the circumstances that lead to Adams starting.
You are absolutely right about DJ. He was getting worked that game.

Wake also had a tank for a rb/fb.

Our defense last year was Woodward and a few other solid players (ie Bond, Meitzenheimer) Without Woodward it showed that we had a lot of holes on defense. If Tipa was used better and if Devon Anderson stayed healthy we may have had a more serviceable defense)

I hope our defense is much better this year than it was last year. Regardless of who is in or who transfers.

For starting a guy that had been on campus for ONE WEEK and didn't go through Fall Camp with the team? 100%.

I'm not a coach and I'm (admittedly) not familiar with what the circumstances were with regard to injuries and who was promised what. However, I would've plugged in a 2nd or 3rd string CB or Safety in that spot for at very least the first half of the game. Agree or disagree, that's my take.

DJ struggled all year. In fairness to him, WF did have some massive and talented receivers. Sage Surratt is a late first round talent per Mel Kiper.
