Andy. Effing. Peasley.
That’s all.
What a first start for him.
Speed. Pocket awareness. Can throw a ball farther than 5 yards.

What was Gary smoking playing Shelley over Columbi and Peasley?

I don’t know. But one of the things I am grateful today is that our AD saw fit to relieve him of his duties when he did.

Two things exposed him Gary. Bringing in and starting Shelley combined with three tough opponents. We play New Mexico and a few of the other weaker teams to start the season and Gary is probably still coaching. No idea what he was thinking bringing Shelley in.

So true.
I think we are maybe learning that we had some players on the roster that maybe are better than scraps from Utah.

Good point. DHC played well but Henniger was mvp on the defense..ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 26th, 2020, 9:12 pmSo true.

Not all scraps from Utah are bad. The lazy recruiting strategy of relying on scraps from Utah to carry the team was bad.Elkaggie wrote: ↑November 26th, 2020, 9:16 pmGood point. DHC played well but Henniger was mvp on the defense..ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 26th, 2020, 9:12 pmSo true.

Funny how guys play harder and better for a QB that is well liked and earned it.

Re: Andy. Effing. Peasley.
Even Utah’s “scraps” are division 1 FBS football players.
Unfortunately for Shelley he didn’t seem to realize that everyone else on the field was also a D-1 FBS football player.
It’s great to get a win.

DHC was great tonight. He’s our best overall back when he can catch and hang onto the ball which he did tonight.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 26th, 2020, 10:06 pmI would say 3 of the 5 have been good to great. Peasley did great. He looked really comfortable. I know it was NM but he looked promising.

surprised no one has mentioned, but a bad team has a way of making mediocre players (and coaches) look good.
i was as ready to be done with Shelley as anyone, but i have a sneaking suspicion that he might have been able to put up some decent numbers against this unm team as well?

Re: Andy. Effing. Peasley.
Love how well Peasley played, but wow, what a shift for Legas. He goes from getting his first start (due to covid) to losing it (due to covid) to watching the guy ahead of him who recovered from covid go out and have the kind of performance that could cement him as the starter. Crazy times.

Re: Andy. Effing. Peasley.
I would argue that Shelley would have still struggled to throw for a 100 yards. I don't recall a single pass shelley ever threw to a wr in stride. Everyone of his passes were behind the wr. The deep ball to mcgriff amd scraver both would have been behind the wr. The crossing route to carson same thing. He just isn't a good QB..ShowMeAggie wrote:surprised no one has mentioned, but a bad team has a way of making mediocre players (and coaches) look good.

Re: Andy. Effing. Peasley.
i agree, NM is not a great team. I will say they are improved from last year. They were competitive against SJSU. At HAW they were close most of the game and against NEV they only by 7. It was clear though that offensively we were better last night. Peasley looked really comfortable running the offense. I loved the way he ran the ball. He also had some nice touch and made some good throws. We do need to take it with a grain of salt. Excited to see him play again next Thursday.ShowMeAggie wrote: ↑November 27th, 2020, 9:30 amsurprised no one has mentioned, but a bad team has a way of making mediocre players (and coaches) look good.

Re: Andy. Effing. Peasley.
I'm not taking any win with a grain of salt this year. UNM was a TD favorite in this game. They have been a better team than us previously this year. I firmly believe this is the start of better play for the rest of the year on both sides of the ball. Wins? I don't know. I can handle a loss when we play hard. I can't stomach what we were seeing in the first few games this year. This game makes me feel so much better.

100% agree with this. I understand a hard fought loss. What we saw the first few games was ugly and unpalatable.GeoAg wrote: ↑November 27th, 2020, 11:40 amI'm not taking any win with a grain of salt this year. UNM was a TD favorite in this game. Re: Andy. Effing. Peasley.
I guess that’s possible. The level of competition certainly plays a part. But I think Shelley’s struggles had as much to do with his relationship with his teammates and his own physical limitations as it did with the competition level. I am just glad Peasley is back there now.ShowMeAggie wrote: ↑November 27th, 2020, 9:30 amsurprised no one has mentioned, but a bad team has a way of making mediocre players (and coaches) look good.
