I would be happy with that.

Re: Blake Anderson??
Yikes. 4-7 record this year with losses to Texas State and some other bad teams. Can’t wait to hear JH spin on this. Not too excited about this.

Re: Blake Anderson??
Blake is a good coach. I think Arkansas State is a tough gig and I have to think there's a bit of stalemate that has set in with him being there for a while.
This year is an odd year. Prior to this he'd never won fewer than 7 games. If we never won fewer than 7 games here we'd all be ecstatic.

Not great this year, but 6 straight bowls prior to that at Arkansas State. I'd be happy with him.

I agree Roy, but I guess my concern is that he is winning 7 games in the Sun Belt...which isn't USUALLY very good.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 10:16 amBlake is a good coach. Every year he seems to have a pretty big loss to a strange team. This year: Texas State, year before South Alabama.

Re: Blake Anderson??
He had his team in a bow game every year at Arkansas State until this weird year and won two conference championships. I would take those results in our next head coach no questions asked. He also has shown a willingness to be a long term guy.

Isn’t Arkansas State kind of like Utah State? How’s he going to recruit and win here? I would love to know.

Re: Blake Anderson??
Probably not the up and comer that many here were hoping for, but I am hearing that this has wheels and could be announced tomorrow. His wife died from cancer last year (tough/sad deal) and he reportedly has been looking to move on from Arkansas to kinda make a fresh start.
Pros:
- Proven head coach that has won conference championships and six straight bowl seasons
- Strong CEO type that can manage a program and set a culture
- Established culture at Arkansas State after they went through five head coaches in five years
Cons:
- Only experience in the West was with New Mexico in 1999-2001
- When his team played here in 2016, they seemed less than disciplined
IMO, who he hires as coordinators will be a big deal...maybe bigger than other candidates. That said, he is very well connected and respected in coaching circles.

Re: Blake Anderson??
I'm not gonna judge on any 2020 season. They beat kansas state on the road. Untill this year winning records and bowl games every year. Teams put up points but give up a lot too. Has Rocky Long ties. Likes to run the football. I like that.

All on board in this one. Arkie state has been one of the better teams in their conference the last decade.

Todd Orlando is in consideration? Or strongly considered and not an option now? That's my choice.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 10:16 amhttps://footballscoop.com/news/sources- ... tah-state/

Don't know how reliable Zach Barnett is, but there is some interesting info in this article:GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 10:16 amhttps://footballscoop.com/news/sources- ... tah-state/
1. Todd Orlando was considered.
2. There is a targeted announcement date of tomorrow

Re: Blake Anderson??
Yes. And his first few years there he was a really hot name for coaching jobs. He never took any of them and things seem to have stalemated just a bit there for him.

Re: Blake Anderson??
Only thing that concerns me is his rush defenses have been pretty bad. Maybe its tough to recruit D-lineman to Arkansas State. It would be nice if they could pay Maile enought to stick around to boost our Poly and missionary pipelines. His offenses have been really solid and pass defenses not bad.

Re: Blake Anderson??
Rato- Any chance Frank stays? This would go a long ways with current players and fans imo. Plus we need a Poly coach imo.
I know Frank has said he won’t stay but maybe there’s a small change.

Yeah, after Harsin bailed after one season. Replacing Malzahn who bailed after one season. Replacing Hugh Freeze who bailed after one season.

Re: Blake Anderson??
I know I'm posting a lot in this thread, but I'm on board.
He's got a 68% conference winning percentage and 2 conference championships
His tenure at Arky State suggests he won't bail at the first opportunity
He has coaching experience all over the South, which means it's HIGHLY likely he has good connections in Florida and Texas.
He coaches offense
He's 51. Not old, but has plenty of experience
