Short Summary of Saturday's Scrimmage

Post by BigBlueBlood » March 30th, 2021, 10:33 am

It's hard to analyze much when playing yourself, but running backs seemed very quick and powerful. WR's dropped a few, but TE looked good. Cooper Legas was on it. The threw an INT, but he threw well and fast, ran well and managed the team well. He was impressive. That OL transfer from TCU is huge. D line got run on a bit and the LB's didn't seem to have the lateral speed we've needed, but it's early. That DL transfer from Texas is going to give offenses some headaches. Secondary got burned on the same play twice. One of them for a TD. The D had some INT's. The offense was fast. Really fast.

I really want to see Legas taking reps against the 1 D. His pick was a really good play by the DB (one of the few of those on the day!) on a tough throw.

As someone that is out of state, I appreciate ANYTHING about the team! What did you mean with the offense was fast? Please mean team speed..

For me, the tempo was fast. Players didn't seem to be either way. Hard to tell. No 🤣 be broke away for a long td though. D was always able to run them down

Sorry, yes, the tempo was fast. They sprinted and did pretty well with it. It was clear Coach was very deliberate about this. At one point he turned and got after some of the assistant coaches for not having guys ready for quicker substitutions. There seemed to be a good feel between the coaches and with the players. The players were really supportive of each other, cheering and celebrating good plays, etc. There was a lot of energy. I'm told the atmosphere is much better from two springs ago, but I don't know that. Again, it's hard to know anything concrete. All I do know is that after it was over, I was pumped for football.

Here was the Herald Journal's write up on it that didn't seem to get much traction unfortunately.
