Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
I always got the impression the Packers jumped up to grab Love to force the Colts into a trade which never came.

Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
Somebody is messing with Rodgers. No way the Pack moves away from Love as long as Rodgers has that outrageous contract.
"Rodgers' cap hit is just over $37 million for 2021 and $39 million in 2022, a massive number for any single player."

Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
That's roughly 20% of the total cap for the team. Since the inception of the salary cap, here are the NFL QBs who have won the Superbowl while eating over 13% of the team's salary cap:
Troy Aikman
Steve Young
John Elway
Eli Manning
Peyton Manning
That's it. Not even the great Tom Brady could manage it.
You have to have good players around you and good players cost money. Look around the league - any team with a QB who consumes more than 13% of their cap - that team isn't going to win it. Players want to get paid - but if they take too much in the hard-cap system of the NFL, they won't win. Being greedy is a recipe for a good, not great, team.

Re: Rodgers trade rumors
Just heard that the 49ers have approached the Pack on draft day asking about a trade for Rodgers.

Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
Just saw on the NFL network that Aaron Rodgers does not want to return to the team. I wonder if Love is still going somewhere? Could be a big break for him.

Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
I know it sounds crazy, but if Rodgers won't take about a 50% cut in pay, then the Packers would increase their chance of winning the Superbowl by getting rid of him.

Re: Rodgers trade rumors
Same here. As a Seahawks fan, it would guarantee the 49ers won't win a Superbowl - just like the Seahawks with an overpaid Wilson.

Re: Rodgers trade rumors
I was going to say I love the idea of Rogers in SF too. This way, all the things I despise can be in one place. It satisfies my OCD to have organization and proper placement.brownjeans wrote: ↑April 29th, 2021, 1:45 pmSame here. Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
Here is a list of the teams who will not win the Superbowl in 2021 because the cap hit for a QB doesn't leave enough for the rest of the team:
Seahawks (Wilson)
Packers (Rodgers)
Vikings (Cousins)
Falcons (Ryan)
Titans (Tannehill)
Rams (Stafford)
49ers (Garoppolo)
Steelers (Roethlisberger - right on the edge)
So who can win it it 2021? Teams who aren't overpaying for QB, but still have a good QB. Likely:
Buccaneers
Bills
Chiefs
Dolphins
Chargers
Seahawks (Wilson)
Packers (Rodgers)
Vikings (Cousins)
Falcons (Ryan)
Titans (Tannehill)
Rams (Stafford)
49ers (Garoppolo)
Steelers (Roethlisberger - right on the edge)

Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
As a Bears fan, the last thing I want to see is the Packers have another good quarterback step right in. We just cannot seem to find a franchise quarterback in Chicago.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑April 29th, 2021, 3:37 pmPackers after moving on from Rodgers and starting Love all year.brownjeans wrote: ↑April 29th, 2021, 3:16 pmHere is a list of the teams who will not win the Superbowl in 2021 because the cap hit for a QB doesn't leave enough for the rest of the team:

Re: Rodgers trade rumors
I heard that as well. Also heard that the Pack shut the convo down right away.
My friend who's a big fan of the Packers sent me the following last night when I asked him about it...
"Rodgers is an prima donna and the front office are idiots. They deserve each other. Based on what the Lions got for Stafford, I say trade him and be done with it. But they can't, due to the cap hit. It's a dilemma for both sides."
II think this could well end up being the story of the 21 offseason and have the biggest impact on the season.

Re: Jordan Love trade rumors
Jordan always looks good throwing the ball, he just makes it look so effortless. The first time I saw him complete a deep pass (against UNLV) in college, it was clear to me he had an NFL caliber arm (why it took so long for him to play is still beyond me).
Aaron Rodgers is an A-hole but he isn't dumb. He purposefully took every snap (even in garbage time) last year for a reason.
