Similar to the basketball thread, what's your all time favorite Aggie football play? (Again, not necessarily biggest or most important, just your personal favorite). Mine is easy; Bobby Wagner one handed interception. It was one of those moments where it didn't seem real or even possible.

Re: Favorite Play
Sadly, I don't think footage exists of Bobby's interception. Incredible play.
I submit Adam Kennedy to Stanley Morrison TD pass. The team was desperate and Kennedy was just flinging passes he had no business throwing. I still have no idea how that pass to Morrison wasn't intercepted, yet it somehow found his hands and he ended up in the end zone.

1. There’s no way anyone could jump that high.
2. Even if they could jump that high, there’s no way they could hold them onto the ball.
I was absolutely astounded.

that is probably mine as well. Loved Zach Vigil. Fun player to watch. I miss those times of our defense destroying AF, hopefully we can get back to those.

From 2017, Jalen Davis getting a pick six against BYU on a ball bouncing off our LB always makes me happy.

Lots of good choices. A couple that haven’t been mentioned:
1. The Pick 6 right before the half against Boise in 2015.
2. Fuentes TD with no time left to force overtime against New Mexico in 2002.

Re: Favorite Play
1972 that spring I had graduated from Sky View. In the fall I was excited to see the great Tony Adams and the Forzani brothers run down Tony’s passes. A beautiful Cache Valley day and we were playing a good Southern Mississippi University team they had an All-American kicker by the name of Ray Guy! Guy did the punting and the field goal duties. It was a good close game. Southern Miss. was up by 6. Guy had just kicked a Romney stadium record field goal of 64 yards. Our defense had pinned them at the goal line. They had to punt with 7 seconds left in the game. Guy was back to punt in the back of his end zone. We brought the house. A Cedar City kid last name Chidister blocked the punt, we fell on the ball in the end zone to win by 1 point. I sat high on the last row on the West side. It was my choice as not many came to the games back then. It was the only win with no time on the clock that I have ever been to as an Aggie fan!

Riley Nelson kicking a bad snap out of the endzone so Fresno State only got a safety instead of a touchdown. Up to that point, that day was the happiest I had ever been as an Aggie football fan...

That was just an absurd game from Jalen Davis. 3 picks, 2 that went for touchdowns. That's gotta be some kind of Aggie record.sambonethegreat wrote: ↑July 20th, 2021, 11:08 pmFrom 2017, Jalen Davis getting a pick six against BYU on a ball bouncing off our LB always makes me happy.

Re: Favorite Play
A sleety day in Cache Valley. What a hard-fought game. USM had a all-universe punter and an amazing defense which, together with the lousy conditions, shut Touchdown Tony right down. Earlier in the week Jess Cone, the line coach, talked about the upcoming game as a Civil-War, Grey vs Blue, brother vs brother war. Boy did he call it right.troutputz wrote: ↑July 21st, 2021, 5:36 am1972 that spring I had graduated from Sky View. Of us frosh, only Longuevan and Smoke McCloud dressed and played in that game (as I recall), and I sat in the stands with my dad. What a delicious defensive war, and what an astonishing ending. Who could have known something like that would decide the game?

Re: Favorite Play
Wouldn't call any of these my absolute favorite, but some others that come to mind:
Jake Heaps throwing to nobody for an INT vs. BYU 2010
Blocked kick + score vs. Utah 2012, final pass deflection to win that game
OT 4th down stop at LA Tech to win WAC 2012
Chuckie losing his shoe and scrambling at Utah 2013
Jake Doughty scoop and score in MWC Championship game 2013
Garretson to Sharp TD at BYU 2014
Rodriguez punt return TD vs. SUU 2015
Hunter Sharp chasing down Washington INT to save a TD, followed by 97 yard scoop and score TD 2015
Jordan Love "shh" TD at BYU 2018
Game winning TD at CSU called back 2018
Shaq Bond pick-6 at SDSU 2019
If you can mentally separate it from the rest of the season, the Shelley to Thompkins Hail Mary was pretty cool

Re: Favorite Play
Robert Turbin’s TD run on the first play of the game in Provo…that play gave me so much hope, only to be crushed by the end of the game. But that play, that run, it was a thing of beauty!
Edited to add I also love Michael Smith’s downfield block that really opened it up. Wow, we had the backs!

Re: Favorite Play
One of my favorites not yet mentioned is the Jaron Bentrude Touchdown. One thing that's funny about that is his parents, after making it home and a few road games his first two years, had a perfect record in going to all the home and away games his last two years when he was the starting punter. Except for, well you probably guessed it by the fact that I am posting this and that it wouldn't be a big deal worth posting about if the one was any other game, the game where he ran for the touchdown!

Re: Favorite Play
I thought I would do a reminder of how those plays/performances fared in my AFB Madness Tournament last year.
The Bobby Wagner interception against Louisiana Tech lost in the Sweet Sixteen the Zach Vigil Double Tackle against Air Force.
Jalen Davis's 3 interceptions and 2 touchdowns would fall in the Sweet Sixteen by Stanley Morrison's 2 fake punts and touchdown against Hawaii, before Stanley's 2 fake punts and touchdowns would fall in the Elite Eight to the Zach Vigil Double Tackle, before that fell to the Chuckie Overtime Scramble in the Semi-finals.
Doughty leveling the CSU kicker bowed out in the fist round to Kevin Curtis's coming out party against Utah. Tipa's pick six against BYU went out in the second round against the stop to win the WAC Championship. That stop's run would end when it faced Emmett White's record in the Sweet Sixteen, which would end up winning the championship, defeating the Blocked Punt Touchdown against Utah in the Semi-Finals and the Chuckie Overtime Scramble against Utah in the Championship.
The Fuentes to Stallworth Hail Mary in 2002 would fall to the Blocked Punt Touchdown against Utah in the Sweet Sixteen.
The Turbin 80 yard run would defeat the Woodward Interception in the bowl in the first round before losing the Chuckie OT Scramble in the second round. And because of how Sharp chasing down the Washington defender was talked about, that play earned the right to be the 16 seed sacrificial lamb for the 1 seed Chuckie OT scramble. The Fackrell Touchdown against Hawaii was penalized for it being against winless Hawaii dropping it all the way down to a 15 seed which was no match for the Double Tackle against Air Force.
