A lot of players not returning from this group. Many of the names I don't even really know, but I'm curious if the losses of Munoz and Shelton will hurt us much. Getting Rice is huge, I understand, but is the depth behind him going to be enough over the course of a season?

Depth could potentially be an issue. It has been addressed with the 2022 recruiting for next year.

I didn't really feel like Munoz was as important as others may have. I know the last staff felt like Shelton had potential. Personally, I don't think we'll miss either one.

Looks like a really solid group to me. AJ-V has played well and we add a David Woodward type guy (Rice) next to him, you gotta be happy. I also like the young guys behind them. Maile made that fumble recovery for a TD play last season. Some players just have a knack for being around the ball and making big plays in games. Kina deserves enough playing time to see if he's one of those guys.

Shelton was very slow. Won't be missed. Munoz had moments 2 years ago and then not any more moments last year. Meh.

2021 USU Football Preseason Preview: Inside Linebacker

Thanks as always 22! The position overview for Metz says he is very athletic. Would have agreed with that statement early in his career but the last couple seasons he sure seemed slow on the field. Maybe he will be in better shape and shed a few lbs for this season. Either that or he plays more of the run stuffing LB.
