Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
Too early in the season to worry. We beat a bad Washington State team and an FCS team. If we beat AF this weekend, we should get some votes, considering they are receiving votes.
Wait, how the hell is Arizona getting votes in the AP? Aren't they 0-2 against BYU and SDSU??
Note, SDSU is not getting votes in the AP poll. Wtf is this?

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
The Aggies need to take care of business for several more weeks before we deserve consideration for the polls. Sorry, but last years memory can’t be erased that quickly in the eyes of the voters.

Ahhhh poo
I’m still going to just not trust any Aggies from Alaska.
Presumptuous and ill-informed.

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
Arizona had 0 votes in the pre-season poll. After losing to BYU they got 5 from a voter that said she accidentally voted for Arizona instead of Arizona State but corrected it...it hasn't been corrected though. After losing this week Arizona now has 6 votes. She claims she didn't do it again but the ballots aren't public yet so no one knows for sure who is to blaim.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑September 12th, 2021, 1:35 pmWait, how the hell is Arizona getting votes in the AP? As for the Aggies, we don't deserve votes yet. If we beat Air Force AND Boise State then we might get some votes but that's a tall order. The fact is, there are teams every year that are 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0 against weak competition that just don't have the resumes to be ranked. None of our first 4 opponents are getting votes. Beating those 4 teams may not move the needle. Starting 5-0 with a win against BYU would get us votes though.

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
The people that have votes will vote more favorable for the teams they write for and those in their conference. A KSL writer had an article today talking about how he voted, and did include byu in his top 25. I haven't seen his entire ballot but I'd be willing to bet that he was more generous to Big12 members than he was pre-season.

If you click on a writer's name in this matrix, it will show you who they have routinely under or overrated relative to their peers. Fairly good way to determine bias.ustate98 wrote: ↑September 12th, 2021, 3:25 pmThe people that have votes will vote more favorable for the teams they write for and those in their conference. Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
Rankings seem more like a marketing gimmick to me than an actual meaningful ranking. Im not sure we are a top 45-60 team. I also dont think that reporters have any clue what to rank anyone else as either. But we live in a country where people give way too much credit to some of these reporters.
Lucky for us it's not what some pencil neck at the Des Moines Register who couldnt squat 2 plates if his life depended on it that matters. It's not what imakeitrain says on a message board that matters either.
We play the games for a reason.

Likely onto serious reality here Slim80. If we take care of business on the gridiron we'll soon be in business in the polls.

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
It's way too early for us to be getting votes, no one is paying attention to G5 teams.
Preseason rankings shouldn't even be a thing at all, they're based more on name recognition than anything else. Losing to P5 teams apparently is more impressive and will get you more votes than winning games

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
Since when does actual on field performance mean anything with regards to rankings? Not saying USU deserves any votes yet, but seriously, USU has significantly beat performance predictions so far and no one seems to notice. They are stuck in the 2020 season.

I noticed that North Dakota only dropped two spots from the previous week, they got leapfrogged by Jacksonville State... gee I wonder why?

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
The thing about rankings is that to get votes someone has to believe you are one of the 25 best teams in the country. Preseason we were predicted to be one of the 10 worst teams in the county. We've outperformed expectations but there are still 130 FBS teams in the country and we haven't done near enough yet to show that we are a top 25 team to anyone...because we're not right now. Maybe the team will keep on winning and prove the doubters wrong.swordsman1989 wrote: ↑September 14th, 2021, 1:54 pmSince when does actual on field performance mean anything with regards to rankings? Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
On a positive side, we got votes in the r/cfb poll and finished directly above the University of Utah. We were roughly 48th or so.
We also were above Fresno State, Boise State, SDSU, SJSU, and AF who also got votes. We were behind Nevada (35th)

Ehhh, I sure wouldn’t put us above Fresno or Boise. I guess the other teams are debatable.thegreendalegelf wrote: ↑September 14th, 2021, 3:47 pmOn a positive side, we got votes in the r/cfb poll and finished directly above the University of Utah. We were roughly 48th or so.

Re: Aggies no votes yet in either poll
The Aggies are No. 1 in my heart, and I am super impressed we are 2-0, but we are probably somewhere in the 55-75 range in the grand scheme of college football.
If we win the next two games, we can maybe start to think about the Top 25.

Receiving votes at 4-0, possible ranking at 5-0.ProvoAggie wrote:The thing about rankings is that to get votes someone has to believe you are one of the 25 best teams in the country. Indeed. Right now it would make no sense for us to be getting votes.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 15th, 2021, 12:26 amThe Aggies are No. 1 in my heart, and I am super impressed we are 2-0, but we are probably somewhere in the 55-75 range in the grand scheme of college football.
