Penalties, my goodness. At the very least clean up the false starts.

Feels like Boise won this game on reputation. USU played like (I can't express myself without swearing) in the red zone and on special teams, with fear in their eyes. Boise had all the pressure on them and USU couldn’t manage to get them on their heels whatsoever.

Penalties and turnovers will kill us and Boise is good enough to take advantage of it.

The bad news is: we lacked discipline, Boise took advantage, we tend to have undisciplined games against BYU and BYU is also good enough to take advantage.

The good news is we have the talent to do very well. We can take our lump here move on and clean up our sloppy play. We can still beat BYU but not with turnovers and penalties like this.

I know this is a crazy thing to say at this moment, but I think Avalos is ultimately going to fail at BSU.

He’ll survive for awhile on having better players than the rest of the conference, but this isn’t going to end well for BSU, IMO.

I would say we lost the TO battle 4-1. The fake punt was effectively another TO deep in our own territory.

Because BS has been on a slow decline for much of Harsin's time and Avalos will be in over his head and the decline will accelerate. We've seen plenty of poor coaches in our time as Aggie fans. We know one when we see one.

Boise State never felt the pressure because Utah State was too busy shooting itself in the foot.

it is a turnover. the game is 10-0 at the time and the defense had played well. You then call that stupid play and it pretty much puts it out of reach. I do the aggressive play, but punt the ball and give them a long field and we probably get the ball back at 10-0 or 13-0 at most.

Not going to argue with you there.........us longtime fans (season ticket holder for 30 years now) saw it coming.....and coming.....and as much as I wish Harsin success at Auburn he had moved on some time ago.
Time will tell if you are correct about Avalos BUT............I think unlike Harsin he will be able to keep assistant coaches for a bit longer than a year or two, won't be as difficult to work for and honestly the feeling around here is that even with his inexperience as a head coach, his experience with working under coaches such as Petersen and Cristobal gave him a pretty good road map on how to build a successful program.
And that is where BSU is today; needing to get the program-not just this year's team-back to its standards.
Will be interesting to see and I personally hope you are wrong! LOL!!!!

I dont see him being any worse than harsin. 9-10 win seasons, but nowhere near what they were under petersen and Hawkins. Auburn really blew it with harsin. Auburn will be worse under him and he will be gone after 3 years.

Boise has too much support, a national brand, and too vigorous a fan base to be down for long. They may not be completely dominant as they've been for the last 20 years, but they won't ever be bad for more than a rare one-off year.
