Aggies Coaches Luncheon 10/6 Cafe Sabor Layton

Post by Aggie84025 » September 28th, 2021, 5:49 pm

This is a reminder that they are holding a coaches luncheon or in this case dinner at Cafe Sabor in Layton on 10/6 at 7pm. This is a great opportunity for Davis and Weber county aggies to attend hear coach Anderson speak.

This was a fun event. It was my first Coaches Luncheon as I can't bring myself to take a day off work for one but it seemed well attended and I had a good time. Hopefully they do more of these events outside of Cache Valley.

Did they follow the new tradition of putting you in a genital cuff to make sure you don't share any information? ;)

I don't know that there was anything groundbreaking shared.

Jerry Bovee was there instead of Hartwell. He talked a bit about the conference and the teams that were going to leave. He said that they had the opportunity to go and chose to stay. The conference is trying to position itself for an autobid in the playoff when it expands to 12 teams.

Anderson didn't have a setup to share any tape but spoke quite a bit. Said he wants to expand the stadium to keep up with other teams in the conference and region. Wants to build a new South Endzone complex that is an extension of the West Stadium Center that would add 5000 seats and a bunch of other facilities that athletics needs.

He spoke a bit about refs making bad calls. He said that the forward pass fumble in the Boise game was the right call in his opinion. Said he submits a report each week of calls that he thought they were bad and on Tuesday get's a report back that says that he is mostly right.

Talked about the upcoming schedule. Said we'll match up better with every team we play in the future than 4 of our first 5 opponents. Said every team left is beatable but also good enough to beat us. Said that UNLV is much better than their 0-5 record and someone is eventually going to be their first win. Doesn't want it to be us but said they scare him. Not overlooking the team. The assistant coaches are all out recruiting this week and will be back Monday to work on the UNLV game. Players are using this week to recover and get stronger.

Probably a lot of other stuff that I missed too.
