CSU is favored
by 3 or 3.5 points, depending on the sports book. Interesting.
Other lines of interest - SJSU is a 5 point favorite at UNLV (we closed at 7, but obviously didn't cover).
BYU is around a 2 point favorite at Wazzou. We were 17 point underdogs. Utah was a 15 point favorite over them (but game was in SLC). I'm guessing it's pretty rare for a team to play USU, Utah and BYU in the same season! Wonder if it's happened before.

Re: CSU is favored
I think everyone is thinking CSU has an elite defense, they are sitting at number 9 (total defense). Also squeaking out the W at UNLV has a lot of people thinking USU is trending down.Aggie702 wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 11:16 amby 3 or 3.5 points, depending on the sports book. Interesting.

For reference Air Force defense sits at 11. BYU, WSU, and Boise State are 79,81, and 85 respectively. The worst game the Rammies defense has played was against the mighty JackRabbits of South Dakota. So who knows.
It’s going to be a fun game.

Re: CSU is favored
I see as two teams kind of going opposite directions. The Aggies put up 323 yards total offense and 21 offensive points against a winless team whereas CSU has been getting better each game of late. I have no idea about how they match up with our strengths but the line seems about right.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 11:26 amI think everyone is thinking CSU has an elite defense, they are sitting at number 9 (total defense). Re: CSU is favored
If it matters USU had 440 yards total offense against UNLV, and they left about 16 points on the field. USU is sitting at 13th in nation in total offense.hickaggie wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 11:36 amI see as two teams kind of going opposite directions. I’m not happy with how the UNLV game went, but I’m not going to jump on the “trending down” bandwagon just yet.

I haven’t watched them so I don’t really know. Their leading rusher has 318 yards and 4 TDs. But I’m guessing USU will allow him to run at least 150 yards before they decide they are sick of it. Ha ha.

Re: CSU is favored
I think they do too. I’m actually tempted to put money it. The only thing that give me pause is the fact that they lost their qb.

Re: CSU is favored
That’s bad news then because we rank pretty low in the conference on sacks. CSU on the other hand is second on conference on sacks.

Re: CSU is favored
I think part of those low sacks numbers has to do with playing Boise State - which typically has great offensive lines, and Air Force - which rarely drops back to pass (although they always seem to pass well against us).frankiesaysrelax wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 12:37 pmThat’s bad news then because we rank pretty low in the conference on sacks. Re: CSU is favored
Off the top of my head Wyoming, Boise, UNLV, Fresno all have played USU, UTAH, byu in the same year. I wouldn't be shocked if some of the old BW teams did too with Long Beach, Fullerton, Pacific.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 12:45 pmMany times. Wyoming has done it more than anyone.

Yeah, I think the computer numbers must like CSU because of crap like that. For anyone who has watched them though, they are a very average team and one that the Aggies should beat.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 11:26 amI think everyone is thinking CSU has an elite defense, they are sitting at number 9 (total defense). So how do they find their selves with a #9 ranking in total defense anyway? Well, here's the offenses they have faced so far:
- Vandy - t-118th ranked offense
- Toledo - 79th ranked offense
- Iowa - t-118th ranked offense
- SJSU - 111th ranked offense
- UNM - 130th ranked offense
I would suppose suddenly facing the #13 ranked offense on the road will prove to be a test for them.

Back of the envelope math from SP+ suggests that CSU should be a 6 or 7 point favorite.
