What was the most exciting win in the last 10 years? Non-bowl game

Post by Aggiealum13 » January 12th, 2022, 1:19 pm

2012 Utah
2012 @ Louisiana Tech
2014 Wake Forest
2014 @ BYU
2015 Boise State
2017 BYU
2018 @ BYU
2021 @ Washington State
2021 SDSU

Here are some choices to start. If there was a better win for you enter it in. It is easy to go with recentsy bias, but what brought the greatest amount of emotion to the win. For me, it's a toss up between 2012 Utah and 2014 BYU. I'll give the slight edge to Utah 2012 because it was an edge of your seat kind of game that elicited a lot of good emotion after the win. Plus it helped that the game was in Logan.

2014 at BYU. That game was fun. A lot of fun. Playing spoiler on their perfect season, Garretson shredding their defense, and our defense coming up big. All in their stadium with the spotlight on the game.

A very close second was the game in Hawai'i that started it all off. For those that stayed up until the end of that game, the reward was very sweet.

2011 at Hawaii. That was the breakthrough for our program. Nobody expected us to win at halftime at 1am.

Most fun would probably be a tossup between 2014 BYU and 2021 SDSU, but most exciting? Give me @ La Tech 2012. On the road against a ranked team with the conference championship on the line, blow a 41-17 lead (even by Gary 1.0 standards, this was atrocious) and then pull it out in overtime with a 4th down stop to essentially win the conference.

The first road win at BYU was super exciting for me because literally no one including myself thought we had any chance of winning that. The most important non bowl game is the SDSU championship game (also really exciting).

2011 Hawaii. I woke up everyone in the house around 2am when we scored the final touchdown. The best part was listening to the Hawaii announcer. So entertaining! Who knows where we would be today if we lose that game. What a great decade of Aggie football. So many great memories. I don't know how we ever top last season.

These are all good, I think the 2013 Bowl game win in SD vs NIU was pretty good, we were not expected to win that game and NIU was ranked like 19th or something. Our 2018 win vs North Texas was pretty exciting because many people had us down and out because MW left and everyone thought we'd come out flat and under coached, and instead we came out pumped and put the beat down on the not so mean green.

2012 Utah was probably tops overall. 2014 BYU was very big. The MWCCG win against the Aztecs is up there, too.

May I suggest for your consideration, SUU 2015.

In all seriousness the only answer is Utah 2012. If you are talking about excitement. If you ask about important or fun the answer may change. Most fun was BYU 2014.

Wsu this year was probably my favorite overall given that I went to wsu.

That win over Utah was just a bit magical. It felt so amazing, like we were finally a legitimate program. Being there with my son...man that was fun. And that same year, sitting in the Spectrum watching the La Tech game and saying how amazing it was that it was November and we were still excited for football. What a ride.

Hard to discount a quality road win against a P5 team that ultimately contended for their divisional title (just like OSU did).

This. There was also a game with Texas A&M that we did not win, but could have. It was the first time I saw winning attitude in the players as they walked off the field at halftime. A Texas Aggie said to me..”. Look at your Utah Aggies faces. They look like they mean business. I don’t know if my Aggies can win this one”.
Hawaii was the same.
My actual favorite was BYU in 14. When I’m feeling down about anything…..I just watch that game, and all is right with the world. Also love to tell Y fans who complain when their precious q back was carried off…”how could we have won with our 2nd string qb in? I said we were already playing our second string qb, and the Aggies had a 21 to 7 lead , thank you.

Depends on if you want the most "exciting" game or the one that I enjoyed the most. In order to be exciting in my book it needs to be fairly close so the game is in doubt up to the last few minutes (or seconds) and nearly puts me in cardiac arrest. As far as most enjoyable, I really enjoy the beatdowns we put on our rivals/foes. For that reason I think the 2012 Utah game, 2011 Hawaii, 2012 LT, and 2021 Wazzou would be most exciting. As far as most enjoyable, the beatdowns of BYU and the 2015 Boise games were oh so satisfying, as was the SDSU game this year.

This year's SDSU win was one of the most satisfying for me because it was my first in-person Aggie game since 2019 and the way we just dominated the 19th ranked Asstechs was great, the look on their fans faces at the end of the 3rd quarter was the best , OSU was the icing on the cake.

I would say hawaii 2011, but that is now outside the 10 year window. it is ancient history now, so I must go with Utah 2012. I still don't know how we won that game

If I may throw another game for consideration of ‘most exciting’ it would be 2018 vs. Colorado State.

2014 at BYU was great, but I have to go with 2012 over Utah. The feeling in Romney (not yet "The Mav") was absolutely electric. And as badly as we had done over the years against BYU, our performance against Utah was even worse. It had everything, including being a squeaker than came down to literally the last play. That game got a huge monkey off our back. It was also a giant wake up call to the Utes and the Salt Lake media that we had to be taken seriously.

Either 2014 ByU because 3rd QB and LB = RB, or 2015 BSU because of the 6 first have TO’s. Have to give the edge to 2015 because I was there with my pops.

One way 2012 Utah sure contrasted from 2014 BYU was that no rational Utah fan in 2012 thought we won "cause of" their quarterback getting hurt and if anything thought they rallied back and forced the game into overtime cause of it!

Out of the games you listed these would be my top 3:

2014 @ BYU (Beating BYU in Provo for the first time in FOREVER and the way it was won incredible!)
2015 BSU (Turnovers always crank up the excitement level and 6 in the first half against a ranked team was even better!)
2021 SDSU (Unexpected and with a first MW championship on the line. It had everything fourth down stops, turnovers, domination, big 3 TV broadcast, and a trophy!)

Even though I happen to be more of a football fan, I think "The Shot" against SDSU may have been the most exciting Aggie game in the last 10 years, bar none.

Most exciting moment in NVAggie USU history is The Shot. It isn't even close.

Number 1 was beating a ranked SDSU team to win our first ever MWC title which I think takes us to a new level. A close 2nd was the 2014 beating of the Cougies. I watched that with my son in law who is a die hard Zoob.

No, I don't think I had donned the suit by then.

This was the time I drove to Ruston from Huntsville, AL with my young son, but he started getting a fever along the way. I ended up watching the game on my laptop from a hotel room less than a mile from the stadium.
