Big loss in my opinion. He has the arm and the timing to be very good.

I found his play after the JMU game to be incredibly underwhelming. If he goes I hope he has great stats...and loses every single game

I think he is going to be very good. Definitely had growing pains and struggled with a bad offensive line but he has more tools than Coop. Love Coop and his dedication but Hillstead has much higher upside IMO. BA was right in starting him when he did and giving him the shot. Not a good precedent to have someone with his skills leave after one season.

In my opinion, Blake was right in starting him when he did, but probably for a different reason. I think it was needed to shake things up for Coop and get his mind right so he could come back and be successful. I think Coop is the better QB now and I don't know that I've seen anything that make me think Hillstead has a consistently higher ceiling

My guess is this number goes consistently higher as bowl games are played.

I am somewhat surprised that, per '22, only two from USU have entered the portal so far (although I do expect that will likely change).

Are a bunch of players waiting until after the bowl to transfer? Not that I want a bunch of players transferring but to have only 2 so far enter the portal is surprising (in a good way).

I am starting to wonder if we need more players to enter the portal to free up more space for improving the team. Last year was terrible but should we want more players to jump into the portal?

There will definitely be players that our coaches encourage to enter the portal. I’d imagine that those players will probably enter the portal after the bowl game. There is a tricky balance between recruiting better players than the ones that you have and keeping the old guys around for depth. Ideally we could keep everybody that has eligibility that is in our 2 deep rotation. Unfortunately, we will probably lose some players now that feel like they were recruited over that we could really use for depth.
