Re: Schedule thread
Boston College is already in the same tournament.
The ACC have pressure in getting tough opponents, and there are literally 18 teams in the ACC. Utah State is already going to the PAC, so it is more acceptable in the eyes of ACC schools to have Utah State on the schedule.

According to D1docket, we open the Charleston Classic against Tulane.

It could be true, but I can't find an official announcement of the matchups.

Re: Schedule thread
Count how many true road games that ACC teams played in OOC play last year. P5 teams almost never play road games in OOC play any more. Duke is playing a true road game against Army some time in the next year or two. I remember reading an article that said that this is the first time Duke has played an OOC road game in 30 years or something like that. Maybe we could get an ACC team (or some other power conference team) to play us in Salt Lake City with a return game in Charlotte (or some other city near an ACC school), but that is probably the best we could hope for.SLB wrote: ↑May 26th, 2025, 2:08 pmBoston College is already in the same tournament.

Don’t forget this includes Calford and the Methodists of the Southern variety. They’ll want games that are more local…SLB wrote: ↑May 26th, 2025, 2:08 pmBoston College is already in the same tournament.

Damn do I hate that despite being an NCAA Tourney regular, our lot in life is to be in the second tier bracket of a second tier tourney, all while SDSU is playing in the Players Era, Boise is in Maui, and CSU is in Atlantis. Fix this next year please, coach. It festers.IdaAg93 wrote: ↑May 26th, 2025, 10:12 pmKind of an announcement. We know what bracket we are in for the Classic.

Re: Schedule thread
A year ago, the PAC <whatever> was a defunct, non-existent league.
At this point, just like there was no benefit for an upper echelon ACC team to play a MWC team, there is no benefit for them to play a PAC <whatever> team. A win for them is meaningless while a loss would be seen as devastating.

Re: Schedule thread
Au contraire the Pack has an average net of 82ish, including the Fresno Bottom Feeders. And five of us with a net under 53. If you have to beat some good teams to increase your net, why wouldn't you want to play a game or two with a team with a 37 net or an 8 net? Caviat: this is not an attempt to get into the RUTS arguement- we have beat that horse to death.

Preseason schedule looks to be scattered with landmines. Will see how these teams perform in 2025-2026 but if anything like 2024-25 a loss to any of them not named Memphis is a bad resume loss. Traveling to South Florida and Charlotte is long travel.SLB wrote: ↑June 12th, 2025, 2:05 pmGames known with 24-25 NET ranking

Re: Schedule thread
I'm much more excited about VCU in Dallas than I am Illinois St in SLC.
I'm not sure how I feel about non-conference NCAAB becoming so many neutral site games. I'd rather do a home/home with VCU.
We have a MTE, Illinois St in SLC, and now VCU in Dallas. The non-conference schedule should be called the neutral court schedule. And those are the games that have been announced. VCU and USU home/home would mean each team gets a quality opponent in two consecutive years, and a full stadium for season ticket holders. VCU/USU in Dallas means 700 people, mostly players family and local alumni, in the stands.

I 100% agree, i wish teams would be more open to home and home. A home/home against VCU would be outstanding.Aggie702 wrote: ↑June 12th, 2025, 2:23 pmI'm much more excited about VCU in Dallas than I am Illinois St in SLC.

I do wonder if Utah State can land a game with Stanford or Cal.
I also do wonder about the WCC vs MWC games.

Re: Schedule thread
Last season we played 11 non-conference games (plus Weber charity exhibition).
So far, we have 7 scheduled for upcoming season (2 via MTE, at South Florida, at Charlotte, Illinois St (neutral), VCU (neutral), and Memphis (home, but not until Feb).
We have 4 more games to schedule. Hopefully all of those are home games. Otherwise, the Spectrum schedule in Nov/Dec is going to be sparse.

Re: Schedule thread
No inside knowledge, but Feb OOC games are scheduled with the blessing of the conference because that is traditionally conference play. I don't think it means we're giving up a bye. Of course, with us on the way out of mwc, they have no reason to accommodate us more than necessary.trevordude wrote: ↑June 12th, 2025, 7:30 pmAre we burning a conference bye week to play Memphis then?
