BYU game on BYUTV
Lame. Not only will we have to suffer through biased announcing, but Directv only carries the channel in SD.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
So they like to (I can't express myself without swearing) that our TV contract puts the football game against them on CBS sports but then their TV contract puts us on byuTV? But...but...but...ESPN...they love BYU and pay us billions of dollars for our TV rights.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
wtf? why did we cave to them on playing at ESA because they are too chicken (I can't express myself without swearing) to come to Logan AND give them the broadcast rights???

Seeing as how a majority of Aggie fans donate money to fund this particular TV station, we should be thrilled that our team is finally being televised on it.

The contract to play at ESA is between BYU and the ESA.isrred wrote:Except this isn't a byu home game...hipsterdoofus21 wrote:Makes sense. ByuTV covers their home games.

We should go ahead and let this be their home game then.ProvoAggie wrote:The contract to play at ESA is between BYU and the ESA.isrred wrote:Except this isn't a byu home game...hipsterdoofus21 wrote:Makes sense. ByuTV covers their home games.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
It isn't, but it is... if you know what I mean. It's BYU's way of having a semi-two-for-one agreement with us. Spectrum once every 3 years. They're happy, happy, happy.ProvoAggie wrote:The contract to play at ESA is between BYU and the ESA.isrred wrote:Except this isn't a byu home game...hipsterdoofus21 wrote:Makes sense. Even more so now that they get exclusive broadcast rights to the game on their school owned channel.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
This is how the agreement should have been made. We play in Logan every other year. If they want to choose to have their home game at ESA instead of the Marriott Center, that's fine too. It's up to them.3rdGenAggie wrote:We should go ahead and let this be their home game then.ProvoAggie wrote:The contract to play at ESA is between BYU and the ESA.isrred wrote:Except this isn't a byu home game...hipsterdoofus21 wrote:Makes sense. Unfortunately we didn't negotiate it that way and this is what we're stuck with.

I'm actually happy about this. The BYUtv HD picture actually looks REALLY good.
Just mute the TV and turn on Al or something.

For those that have access to it. I don't have any access to it at all. Although I may be able to stream it from their website. I seem to remember that as an option in the past.ineptimusprime wrote:I'm actually happy about this. The BYUtv HD picture actually looks REALLY good.

I've streamed BYUtv over a Roku player in HD before. You have to register for an account on their website, but then you have access to the live feed.treesap32 wrote:For those that have access to it. You could try the BYUtv app. You might not get your ipad back once it is twinkled tho...

ESPN wanted to pick it up but it would have been moved back to around 8PM local. BYU said no.

My guess is they didn't want 8 because then all of he Aggie fans would have plenty of time to get there after the football game that afternoon.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
There's no way that's true. I have no doubt they would push the tip time an hour to be on ESPN, the conspiracy theory about fans coming from Logan after the football game is just silly.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
As it currently is, the football game could go 5 hours and people could get to the basketball game on time. That is a non factor.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
#1 We should never have agreed to play at the ESA unless BYU wanted it in place of a one of their home games.
#2 We should never have scheduled a game at the ESA the night of our last home football game. But an entire day of games during Thanksgiving weekend is a tough sell to wives.

Did you get the Utah local channels when you signed up with Directv? That was your mistake I sure did. I'm in Idaho and have the SLC market in my home for that very purpose.bigwilly087 wrote:Doesn't work well 2,000 miles away...I can get every sports channel in HD with Directv, BYUTV, not so much.TrueBlue wrote:Just buy a cheap OTA antenna, boom, HD.

I had them in Idaho as well. Unfortunately it doesn't work unless you are in the general region based on satellite spot beaming. At least that's what I've heard.IdaAg93 wrote:Did you get the Utah local channels when you signed up with Directv? That was your mistake I sure did. Re: BYU game on BYUTV
My mistake? I don't want the SLC locals just to get one USU game every couple years in HD. Prime time would be two hours delayed and I don't care about local Utah news.treesap32 wrote:I had them in Idaho as well. Besides, Sap is right, the only locals with a nationwide footprint are NYC and LA.

My parents had New York local Channels when my brother lived in new york on their direct tv. Don't know why my mom is a little crazy.treesap32 wrote:I had them in Idaho as well. But BYUTV has AN HD TRUCK! THE FINEST HD TRUCK EVER MADE! Isn't that what they were all getting boners about a few years ago?

Also, two games in one day is a very tough sell for me with Mrs. Sneelock. I'll likely have to choose one or the other.

Re: BYU game on BYUTV
Don't get me wrong, BYU TV is much better than any local TV deal we've ever had (KMYU, KCSG....both powered by Cis-Com). The point is that this game deserves better than falling completely out of any TV deals. If this game is in the Spectrum I assume it would have ended up on CBS Sports.Mr. Sneelock wrote:But BYUTV has AN HD TRUCK! THE FINEST HD TRUCK EVER MADE! We got multi-level marketed by the best in the MLM business guys.Mr. Sneelock wrote:Also, two games in one day is a very tough sell for me with Mrs. Sneelock. I'll likely have to choose one or the other.
Not only did they get us to agree to a game at the ESA, which we should never do, we agreed to Thanksgiving weekend and on the same day as our last home football game. Accept for actually scheduling it on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas day I cannot think of a worse day to play this game. I can't imagine many families with younger children can swing an entire day of Aggie sports, and if you're a dad that goes to games solo or even with a kid or two, are your wives really gonna let you leave for the day? In my experience Thanksgiving weekend is over-scheduled with family events as it is, now you throw into it 2 important Aggie games. I already know I'm not getting a pass for the basketball game, and frankly I don't want to push the issue cause then it could sour any chance I have at abandoning the family for a bowl game during the holiday season. You single guys and Aggie dads married to Aggie wives have it made!
