Re: Wasatch Academy on ESPNU
OTOH, WA has no players on the Deseret News All-State teams. Independence can do that to you.
I'm choosing to believe the recruiting services over the DN - where ratings are based on where you sign not how you play. (See Nate Harris .vs. Jared Jensen - yes I'm still frustrated.)

Re: Wasatch Academy on ESPNU
Pretty fun watch so far. Wasatch getting beat by 12 after 3 qtrs. Koby with 6 points and 4 fouls. He seems very lax on D but looks confident on the offensive end.
Anyone know if we are on Jackson Rowe or Josip Vrankic? Both look pretty good in this game.

Re: Wasatch Academy on ESPNU
Oak hill is loaded. By my count they have 7 four star players on their team.
Nonetheless i thought Mcewen looked pretty solid.

Oak Hill is one of the renowned national powerhouse schools out there for High School basketball. They have produced several NBA greats in recent years including Kevin Durrant, Jerry Stackhouse, Rajon Rondo, Rod Strickland, Carmelo Anthony, Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, Ron Mercer, Josh Smith, and more.

Re: Wasatch Academy on ESPNU
I really like Koby. Only watched the first half. One thing is that he seems like he is very unselfish, and a very good passer. It looks like he also shoots it really well. Seems like he could be a really good defender. He is going to be hard to guard coming off ball screens! With his quickness and strength it will be hard for teams to keep him out of the paint.
Emmaneul Akot from Wasatch who we are recruiting is going be really good as well. I think he is just a soph or junior.

Re: Wasatch Academy on ESPNU
McEwen looked good, part of the defense problem was that he had 3 fouls before halftime and stayed in. He had to back off.

Coach Condie was at one of the coach's luncheons earlier this year (MLK Day??) and had one of his players with him. The kid was European so maybe it was Vrankic.Aglicious wrote:Anyone know if we are on Jackson Rowe or Josip Vrankic? Both look pretty good in this game.

Re: Wasatch Academy on ESPNU
Koby has an amazing touch on his long fast break passing
Some are 3/4 court w easy catch in shooting position. He has top end court vision. I see him
Getting a lot of minutes early in the season

I think he could play the 2, if he has a good outside shot

Absolutely. Positions are so fluid these days. Look at Villanova who just won the national championship. They essentially start 2 PG's in Arcidiacano and Brunson. Plenty of other schools do it successfully around the nation as well.
I think it's imperative he be able to play the two next season. He's talented enough we need to get him on the court and we also may struggle with depth at the 2 position. Mcewen also has that outside shot and decent size at 6'3. He is also great at attacking the hoop that he think him and Rector on the court together is something we hopefully will be able to see plenty of next year.

Looks like Josip picked up offers from Toledo, San Francisco, and St. Bonaventure in the past few days.
