Individual honors

Koby McEwen is MW freshman of the year.
Ngor Barnaba is MW Newcomer of the year
Jalen Moore is MW player of the year

Agreed. Anyone knows that we will average 89 ppg, win the MW outright, win the Conference Tourney, and get a 6 seed. Then go to the final 4.

I am pretty close to MJA, although I would knock a couple of ppl off Rector and add them to Jalen, he will average close to 20 a night. Also add a couple assists per game to Rector. The home court advantage will be restored this year.

My meaningless statistic is that only 2 players will transfer/counseled out at the end of the season.

We will find at least one of our new big men to be useless vs. MWC caliber competition and threads will be started about wishing we had big men or wings we could have got (without any evidence knowing whether we could have got them) or players that have left the program that are putting up decent numbers against much inferior competition.

Half a dozen threads will talk about how great our big men could be if Stew was still coaching since he is such a great big man coach.

We will have more dunks this year than the last 10 seasons combined.

At least five things will happen this year that are completely unexpected from transfers, to losing games we are heavily favored, to winning a game we are heavy underdogs, to injuries, to team chemistry, to anything unexpected, etc...

I could see it, I mainly made this thread to start the discussion.

It will be interesting to see how Jalen plays the 3. If he is more aggressive than usual, I would hope he goes to the hoop more often and gets a lot of FTs, he could average 20 ppg doing that. I also think his rebounding should improve because he can crash the boards from the wing, ala Butterfield. It's tough being an undersized 4 and having to box bigger guys out, but if he can come in flying from the perimeter to crash then I could see him grabbing 7-8 boards per game

If Jalen averages something like 19/7/3/1/1, does he have a shot at being drafted in the 2nd round?

I think if Jalen was to get a chance at being drafted he would have to have a line of 20+/10+/5/1/1....just my opinion though. He has been slightly above average thus far and I think would need a good breakout year.

If these predictions come to pass, USU will have won the regular season MWC championship. More reasonable my be Jalen getting back to being a 2nd team all conference player (as he was as a sophomore before falling to 3rd team last year) before we annoint him the POTY.

In the whole NCAA last year, there were 23 10+ RpG players - none in the MWC. That is essentially the top half of 1% of D-I scholarship players. I'm not holding my breath to see Jalen hit that number. Let him do the other stuff that we think he will do well.

The last two players that had a shot at getting 10 RPG were Kyisean Reed and Brady Jardine in their senior years. Unfortunately both of them had season ending injuries early in the year.

an Aggie averaging 10+ rpg hasn't happened since Mike Santos did it in 1977... It's really hard to do in college.

Jalen is a preseason first team

I'm aware of that. What remains to be seen is if he winds up being a post-season first-teamer.

If he combines that stat line with becoming a lockdown defender at the 3 and being able to hold his own on switches, I think he's got a shot.

I think he's got a shot based on his height, athleticism and skill set. If he adds those attributes I think he'll be a sure bet.
