Re: NV vs USU
Nevada came in ranked top 10 in my freshman year. I had no doubt we’d beat them. Now, I have doubt when we play Denver or UCSB or North Korean School for the Blind.

Re: NV vs USU
Fun fact: Royce O'neale, who's currently starting and playing very well for the Jazz, played for Denver when we were in the WAC together came to Logan and beat USU.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑February 15th, 2018, 4:17 pmNevada came in ranked top 10 in my freshman year. Re: NV vs USU
nvspuds there has been some envy on this board for the state of the Nevada program. Rightfully so, wish we were ranked, a lock for the NCAA tournament and reliving our glory days. I’m guessing a lot of credit for this goes to Musselman. I’m curious what the vibe is at Nevada as to if he will stick around or not? Will he bolt for the first P5 offer? Hope you all can retain him or at least sustain the success. We need multiple ranked teams in the MW to get the MW back to it’s glory days.

Re: NV vs USU
I don't know what Muss is thinking at the moment. He is really popular in Reno and his wife seems very happy to live here..He is already rich. If everybody returns he has a really good team next year. Having said all that, if some major program calls he could leave. He is still recruiting like crazy so that is a promising sign. I think the vibe round these parts in to enjoy it while we can.
However, should he leave he has made this a much more attractive job then when he took it.

Sounds like he is the type of guy that if he does leave he is not gonna leave the cupboards empty.nvspuds wrote: ↑February 16th, 2018, 10:53 amI don't know what Muss is thinking at the moment. Re: NV vs USU
You say he has 6 seniors returning next year and in another post "he is recruiting like crazy". Are you guys that light on underclassmen? Is he looking at counseling out players? Or is the recruiting for the year after next when the seniors move on? I would like to think USU is "recruiting like crazy" but I don't really know.

Re: NV vs USU
I don't think he is chasing anybody off. His current juniors are the Martins, Caroline and Drew. He has 4 transfers sitting out. Of those, 2 will be seniors next season. In addition there is Hall, who will be a junior and at least 2 freshmen. He already has a new transfer who will be sitting out next season. That leaves one open scholarship.
I think he is still trying to get a guy for that last spot. Which would fill out 18/19
Where he is really recruiting is for 19/20. He has the one transfer, who will be a junior, and a commitment from a kid who will be a freshman in 2019

Re: NV vs USU
Enjoy having you here, spuds. Our win over UN in the Spectrum was the highlight of last season, a faint flicker of excitement in a year that defined mediocrity. Probably the worst loss of UN's season as well. We're a little better this year, but UN's quite a bit better, and I don't expect a repeat -- but then I didn't expect last year's win either.
Cheers!

Re: NV vs USU
For the record TD has said on his coaches show that they are recruiting very hard and specifically bigs. I know that may or may not qualify as “recruiting like crazy”Yossarian wrote: ↑February 16th, 2018, 11:29 amYou say he has 6 seniors returning next year and in another post "he is recruiting like crazy". Re: NV vs USU
It is always hard to win on the road and the trip to Logan is a tester for sure. Looking at stats from the game in Reno, USU couldn't throw it in the ocean but they out-rebounded the Pack..They had a whopping 19 offensive boards..
When you smoked the Pack last year our lads couldn't throw it in the ocean. So much of this game will just come down to if shots are falling.
The Pack has to make a huge adjustment not having Drew, primarily on defense. I would guess to start it will be Halice Cooke guarding Brito, Cody on Koby and Caleb on Merrill.

Re: NV vs USU
I am certain your coach is also recruiting like crazy. My point about Muss recruiting for 19/20 was in response to the question about whether he is leaving or not.

Re: NV vs USU
If I'm Musselman and I enjoyed myself in Reno, I'd stay there the rest of my career. He's had the big time jobs. His job could be as secure as could be and he could retire a legend.

Re: NV vs USU
Well, your shots were falling. Wow. Wish we could have taken better advantage of those missed front ends toward the end of the game, but there’s no doubt that UN is the cream of this league. Enjoy the rest of the season.nvspuds wrote:It is always hard to win on the road and the trip to Logan is a tester for sure. Re: NV vs USU
jjoey..Losing Drew is really a bad break..He is the glue guy on the team...He is the key to their defense and keeps everybody calmed down..
Anyhoo, I expected a tough game today and it was. I am always very happy with a road win. Best of luck to you for the rest of the season unless you play the Pack again in the tourney.

Re: NV vs USU
Martin twins were unconscious, especially the one. He had a hand in his face all night and it seemed like every shot was barely hitting the net!
I'd take 1 transfer as good as either of those 2 once every 4 years, let alone 2 in the same year...

There is a reason Nevada is in the top 25. That's a good team
I thought one of the Martin's had a season ending foot injury???
Neither one even limped.

One of them was limping towards the end of the game, and rubbing his foot on the bench. The one who didn't miss a shot all night except for the 2 air ballsGordoAggie wrote: ↑February 17th, 2018, 8:05 pmThere is a reason Nevada is in the top 25. That's a good team

Re: NV vs USU
We played a pretty good game. Even though we lost I’m pretty happy with the performance. A 22-3 run to finish the last 7.5mins of the first half was disastrous. We were able to bring it back to 6 near the end but just couldn’t get enough stops to get over the hump. The Martin twins were killing us along with Caroline during that last stretch. That performance though probably beats any other team in the MWC on the floor tonight. I can take pride in that. Nevada is legit.
I’m looking to winning the next three games. If we can win those and 2 more in the conference tournament, it will be a pretty strong finish to the season.

Re: NV vs USU
Caleb missed the UNLV game and during the game they said it was a lisfranc injury. This is the same injury that ended Brady Jardine's career. They also said that the was done for at least the season with it. I believe that was the only game he missed. Must have been a bad diagnoses.GordoAggie wrote: ↑February 17th, 2018, 8:05 pmI thought one of the Martin's had a season ending foot injury???

Re: NV vs USU
Amazing that we kept it that close given how hot the Martin brothers were all game and Caroline was in the 2nd half. Merrill started out hot, but disappeared offensively in the latter part of the first half and for most of the second half - with the exception of a 3-pointer and some nice assists. He also had a couple of critical turnovers in the last few minutes of the game. I was worried about Koby when he picked up that first foul less than 2 minutes into the game, but he stayed foul-free for the rest of the game despite staying relentlessly aggressive. Loved his aggression getting to the line 12 times and making 9 of them, and how about 3 assists and 0 turnovers? Isby and Dargenton provided some valuable minutes off the bench and Taylor was his typical solid self. Disappointed Henson hasn't had more of an impact, but he is only a freshman. Really great job taking care of the ball overall with only 5 turnovers for the team. I think that was what kept us in the game.
