Article out for those interested: https://justinmichaelsports.wordpress.c ... s-conduct/
What a strange career he's had. his time at USU was before my time. Was there whispers or talk of his conduct while he was in Logan, or did that come after he left?

Re: Eustachy
Have had conversations with players about his anger issues. They would make bets on what specific reactions they would get from him at half time based off their performance. Broken furniture was not uncommon.2004AG wrote: ↑January 31st, 2018, 11:27 amNo, there were whispers in Logan......VegasAggie71 wrote:Article out for those interested: https://justinmichaelsports.wordpress.c ... s-conduct/

Re: Eustachy
It was a different time back then. Probably not much has changed with him, those things are just viewed differently now.

I'm actually really smart, probably smarter than you are so if you disagree with what I have stated in this post, you are likely wrong (and dumb).

It is also interesting that this is the only article on that site. Almost like the reporter created the site so he could "publish" this article.

Re: Eustachy
Simple to see. CSU has been under performing and Larry has multiple years left on his contract. The purpose of this investigation is to be able to get a new coach without having to pay Larry his money. It'll happen.
My opinion: Yes, Larry yells at his players. He probably uses a lot of profanities in the locker room etc. He demands a lot of his players. In this day and age of coddling and pampering your players Larry is like a fish out of water. In my estimation, Stew was the same way. So was Bobby Knight. I think it'd be hard to continue coaching that style with all the prissy princesses on the court these days.

Re: Eustachy
I have spoken to 4 of Larry's former players and each one basically said they'd take a bullet for him. He was tough and mean and had some nasty nicknames for players but they all respected and liked him.

Re: Eustachy
All I know is Larry E. was the most fun coach to drink with at The White Owl after games..... and it ain't even close!
Dude was a rock star down there.

Re: Eustachy
I remember watching a couple of his practices. All I remember was that his practices were brutal and I came away feeling sorry for the players. Stew closed his practices so you couldn't watch them. He may have been hard at practices also. Just didn't witness it. I know Larry E. got every thing his players could give. I remember one game that Donnie Johnson got a tooth knocked out. After the bleeding slowed Donnie was right back out there playing.

Re: Eustachy
A neighbor of mine played for him in Logan and he said he was prone to profanity filled outbursts, but was still a good coach who tends to get the most from his players. He liked to recruit tough players who did not wither from his verbal abuse.

Re: Eustachy
The era of the extremely demanding, tough-minded coach is over. If LE gets fired for coaching the way he always has, I will feel really bad for him.

Re: Eustachy
Eustachy was during my time. He was a fun coach to watch and I had always heard the stories of him at The White Owl and parties at the Greek houses. I knew many players during my time and as others have said here they all loved the guy. I wasn't a player and only talked with him a few times but to just a random student he was always decent with me.

Re: Eustachy
No surprise here. This will save CSU millions. They'll claim abuse and rip up his contract and get a new coach. If he hasn't done anything wrong I hope he fights it.

I think you nailed it, he is going to get canned for cause.

Re: Eustachy
Surprise, Surprise! Some good savings there for CSU.
I can't believe in this day and age a coach would use "profanities" and "single out" players during practice. Those poor, poor, kids. Larry should be locked up for "punting a basketball and punching a white board while in the presence of his team."
Punting basketballs has no place in this society! In fact, in light of a recent report that a certain Fresno State coach shattered a clipboard on the court the other day against Utah State, he should also be reprieved of his duties and probably put in jail for that type of "abuse". Unbelievable. Boylen should've been sent to Federal Prison for assaulting that poor possession arrow in the Spectrum many years ago. Shame, shame.
What a coincidence that Larry will be dismissed and have his contract nullified in his first losing season since he became coach at CSU.

Re: Eustachy
Story just gets weirder. CSU players boycotted practice today because they are tired of getting updates through media and not athletic dept.

Re: Eustachy
Maybe Leach and him can continue the crusade against sovereign immunity to try and get their remaining salaries. It still cracks me up (and makes me a little mad that states can do that) that Leach is still fighting it 9 years later.treesap32 wrote: ↑February 8th, 2018, 2:58 pmSurprise, Surprise! Without knowing all the facts, it’s hard to know what really happened but in any case, it’s a sad way for LE to lose his job and possibly (Probably?) end his career. Hate to see it go down like this...

Kids are way too soft these days. It's ridiculous how coddled and entitled they've become.

Re: Eustachy
Society's fault. I think that parents in general have had their legs cut out from under them in several different ways, when it come to needing to dish out some "tough love". Also as time has gone on "soft" parents raise "soft" kids. It's just my take on things and perhaps I'm wrong. But I'm probably working on steering this toward the sand box so I'd better stop here.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑February 9th, 2018, 11:06 amKids fault or parents fault?
