Beehive Classic (Weber game) time announced - 2:30 p.m. tip
Saw a note in the HJ that the tip times for the "Beehive Classic" were announced.
Utah/BYU will play at noon.
USU/Weber will be at 2:30 p.m.
This is still the dumbest setup for an event I can possibly think of. If they're going to do this, make it a tournament and bring in outside teams to flesh out the field. Because you buy a ticket for both games, you're going to have Utah/BYU half full with their fans who will leave after that game and then USU/Weber 2/5 full with their fans, all the while taking away a compelling home game for each team.

It's worse than that. No one comes to this. It's a nearly empty arena.rAggie wrote: ↑August 22nd, 2018, 11:44 amSaw a note in the HJ that the tip times for the "Beehive Classic" were announced.

Anyone recall how many more years this is contracted for? Does it end in 2019?

Why the hell would Aggie or Wildcat fans travel to Salt Lake to see the teams play each other? Ridiculous idea. Box Elder High would be a better neutral site. This setup just keeps getting worse and worse.

That's what "we" signed up for '22. Just another opportunity to showcase our team in an NBA arena. I will NEVER go to the crap so long as we are playing an instate team. Pair us with Arizona and Utah with Duke and I'll pay $200 to be there.aggies22 wrote:Why the hell would Aggie or Wildcat fans travel to Salt Lake to see the teams play each other? Ridiculous idea. It is my understanding that the major benefit to participating in the Beehive Classic is that we get to play Utah ONLY in SLC and ONLY once every three years.

I'd go if I were close enough. Do I prefer home and homes? Absolutely. But I'd still go and it would still be fun to go to.

Maybe it is a chance for the SLC aggie fans, and alums to attend a game with a instate rival. They should be there in force.

I went last year...best seats I've had for anything in that arena...also the most I've paid for basketball tickets.
I'm planning to go again this year.

Plus you can buy the cheap seats and sit in the lower bowl once the Utah/BYU fans vacate half the arena.
Re: Beehive Classic (Weber game) time announced - 2:30 p.m. tip
It was empty last year and not that fun but I will probably go again. It will be better this year - more people even if some leave before our game.

I might go, but I agree with those that hate this. Either make it a tournament or just have instate rivalries be played in the home arenas of the schools. I hate that we play byu on a neutral court sometimes and I hate this even more.

I'm going to go just to hide in the bathroom for 3 days to get a cheap ticket to the Jazz game on Dec. 12

I'm wondering how you survive without food that long. I suppose if there are other events you could get concessions.

You know it’s not me because I am well stated in my opposition to being a cheap bastard. I didn’t grow up here...
