I have one item to note. I have learned that Landon Brenchley is going to be a walk-on and not a sign and send. So I have made the proper changes.

They have an entire week to sign but I'll bet we see something from them by the end of the weekend. ;)

Just curious what a good reason for waiting to sign beyond the first day would be? Only thing I can think of is waiting for a better offer as the dominos fall, or they have a big signing party/celebration planned. Hope it’s not the first. Any other possible reasons?

I'm not really able to elaborate. But don't worry, it's not your initial fear of waiting for bigger offers. I will reiterate that I'm willing to bet that we'll see something by the end of the weekend.

Just to clear up any confusion about Landon Brenchley. Landon did NOT sign an LOI, he did however, sign an official USU admissions acceptance letter. Once the admissions letter is signed, returned and verified, Landon or any other walk-on for that matter, officially becomes a student at Utah State. That allows the basketball staff to announce him as "signed". This same practice goes for the football team as well.

I'm sorry guys. I wish I had something better to tell you but I have no idea at this point in time? I'm hoping that the LOI was signed but the announcement was put off because of the Vegas trip. But he has been pursued BIG TIME by several P5's.

NIC played and won easy their first game of the year last week.

"Sophomore Alphonso Anderson added 20 points and 7 rebounds while Sophomore Ray Quan Evans, last year’s Tournament MVP, tossed in 18 points while handing out 5 assists."

I also find it really dumb that I can't find stats for North Idaho's bball team anywhere online. They don't keep them themselves. I even checked their opponent's websites and their stats weren't listed.

Agreed - these articles have the box scores from their most recent games. Alphonso really struggled on one of them and had a decent game in the other.

Until NIC posts stats, the Couer d'Alene Press is gonna be the best source of info. It shows shooting statistics for everyone but only the team leaders for assists/rebounds.

The whole North Idaho program is kind of iffy, if you ask me. You would think that a program that keeps beating it's chest as being successful would sell itself more. I've been trying to get ahold of someone, anyone, within the North Idaho program for well over a month in an attempt to interview Alphonso and RayQuan. Now it may not even matter trying to get in touch with RayQuan.

Looking like he didn't sign? What is USU saying about him signing?

Correct. It looks like he didn't sign. Officially, USU can't say anything about him because he isn't an official student athlete. He was being recruited heavily by several P5 (Utah, Georgia and Oregon to name a few) schools late and it looks like maybe they got to him.

Perhaps he realized he will have options in the spring and decided to hold off signing till then. You would think if one of the P5’s pursuing him signed him they would have announced it by now. Perhaps a slim chance we still land him?

His twitter feed still shows his post when he committed to USU. Sometimes those get deleted if something changed but just pointing out still there. Possibly question of eligibility?

Thanks guys for the stats. It's been some rough going early on for Alphonso Anderson. One game he went 1-13 from the field. RayQuan Evans looks like he's doing alright though.

Take out that one bad game and Alphonso’s stats are decent. Hopefully that was an outlier.

Evans did have a game with 12 assists and good all around stats (rebounds, pts, steals). I hope we get him as he seems to be just what we need in Smith’s system for a point guard.

Interesting that NI’s leading scorer in each of their first 3 games has been a player coming off the bench (Emmitt Taylor). The kid is lighting it up from 3. Knocking down over 6 triples a game on 10 attempts in only 21 minutes. Doesn’t look like he has any assists or many rebounds so he may be a little one dimensional.

Alphonso chipped in 25 points two nights ago! RayQuan had 16 points while grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists and recording 3 steals.

Mr. Evans could step right in and start, and fill up the stat sheet quite nicely.
