FIRE SMITH

Post by QuackAttackAggie » December 5th, 2018, 7:54 pm

just kidding. Coach em up and we'll get back on track next game. I don't see us coming back from this one. Just a lot of bad shooting for us and good shots by them.

I don't think the newbies on the team understood that BYU plays tougher against us than what they have seen on film. Hard lesson in that first half.

I'm not sure this is on the new guys. Entire team looks out of sorts.

This team got punched in the mouth for the first time this season and responded by being timid and frustrated. No defense in the first half and no rhythm on offense. Very disappointing showing tonight. They are a lot better team then they showed in first half

Yeah I agree on the whole team part. I wasn't meaning to blame them totally.

I wonder how many charges we have taken so far this year. I just don't recall very many. We seemed horrendous on defense. I miss Tai and Gary. They would always step in and take a charge

Bad game, but we'll respond.

Ya... that sucked. Worst possible game to fall flat on their faces, but probably good to readjust our expectations.

Tai and Gary would foul out in 3 minutes under the current rules

Tai Wesley shot 9-11 against byu in his last game in Provo, but fouled out on questionable calls that cost us the game. I shudder to think about Wesley in the current format with as aggressive as he was. Loved him as a player. Probably one of my top 3 favorite Aggies.

Listening to Smith post game was a breath of fresh air. He could articulate things we did not do well and need to work on. He could articulate specific things he should have done differently and will know better next time. Yes we lost, but this guy knows why and how to fix it.

I couldn’t listen to or watch the game, but the box score tells a story. My biggest question is what is Brock Miller bringing to the floor? His defense must be spectacular to warrant 28 minues yet score only 3 points. He has had only one good offensive outing this year and a lot of stinkers. Yeah, I know he’s just a “freshman” but a touted one with not an insignificant number of games under his belt. And Ainge? Four fouls in 12 minutes? Taylor also went from a career game to THUD. We could benefit from better consistancy and knowing which player we can depend on after Sam to bring scoring every game. Was Taylor was “guarding” Childs?

The reality check will be good for the team and for the fans. Let’s see how the players now respond. But it looks like a few of us, including me, can now devote significantly less time going forward trying to figure out what our NCAA seeding will be.

Ainge actually played pretty well tonight despite the fouls. Queta’s 2nd foul was dumb and really hurt us just 4 minutes into the game. The guy is a total stud and is gonna be great. He just needs to be smarter in the foul department. Taylor struggled tonight. Missed a couple of open three’s by a mile. 0-9 from 3 in 1st half won’t keep you in many games when the opponent hit 50%+.

Some nights a team just gets on fire and BYU couldn’t miss. When Emery made the 3 on the bank from the baseline, I knew we were in for a long night. If that’s going in then everything is.

It’s one game. We’ll be fine.

It sucks to lose to them, but it isn't the end of the world. I will be interested to see how we respond.
