Looking for positive vibes
We have a lot of threads that deal with challenges and problems that are seen on this team. I am curious what people would consider the good things that we have seen this year. The record is an obvious one. And there are many threads about an upgrade in coaching.
Let's see if anyone is interested in documenting (with or without stats) other reasons why they like this team.
Here are a couple:
- We seldom see opponents beat the team back on a fast break.
- The team rebounds well - a staple from the past.
- It doesn't seem that the opponents have long runs (even when we struggle to score). Some of that seems to be a factor that coaching takes place without even taking a TO.
- It feels like the team really enjoys each other's success.
Hope there are some more.

Communication and involvement from the bench. Players stay engaged better than I've seen on any team in the past. The lack of hero ball is also a great sight.

Players buying in and playing extremely hard for Coach Smith and for each other.

On paper this team should be nowhere near competing the way that they do. Leaving non-conference play with a 10 and 3 record is obviously a very good sign that things are going well!

Re: Looking for positive vibes
For me the biggest positive is the defense and rebounding. The last few years the team was garbage at rebounding and it showed. This team is really good at rebounding. Rebounding is something that can be taught and is obviously an important thing for this coaching staff.

Re: Looking for positive vibes
One of the things I love about this team is the team attitude. Whenever a player gets knocked down, everyone on the floor runs over to help him back up. Not one, not two, but all four men with him on the court. This shows me it's about the team. Something I think that was missing the past couple of years.

10-3.
Most positive vibes I could have imagined before the season started.

I am just very happy for USUFAN5477. He had a hard time with the coaching change, but in all of his negative comments and complaining, he always went out of his way to express how much he wanted our new coach to win. He must be ecstatic for the success that our basketball program is having right now.
