Wow! Incredibly well-written and well-researched.
Compare it to local media, which can be summed up thusly:

“What will head coach Craig Smith be thinking as the Aggies head into Saturday’s conference matchup at San Diego State? That’s something that only he could know, and the rest of us can merely speculate.”

Some of my personal favorites...

On being picked to finish 9th preseason:
“We never really talked about it,” Craig Smith, the Aggies’ first-year head coach, said of the perceived snub. “I think one time we said something about it … To me more than anything, polls just tell you the level of respect that your program has at that time. And there was no reason for anyone to pick us higher than ninth because we haven’t proven (anything) and haven’t earned that respect. That’s the only thing we told our guys: You can feel jaded, you can feel wronged, but none of that matters. All that matters is you’ve got to go out and earn that respect and prove you deserve to be picked higher than that.”

On the youth and inexperience of the team:
“I think some people over-talk that stuff,” Smith said. “If people want to use it as an excuse or a crutch, so be it. There’s a reason guys are on our team, so whether you’re a freshman or a senior, you’re expected to go out there and produce. That’s not something we talk about a whole lot.”

On style of play changes from last year:
“Our style of play is way, way different,” Smith said. “That doesn’t mean it’s better or worse or whatever. It’s like, I like my mom’s cookies more than your mom’s cookies. We’re definitely a lot more uptempo and we give our guys a lot of freedom on the offensive end.”

I love this guy, his attitude, and the messages he teaches the team!

The HJ news piece isn’t terrible. The San Diego piece is better.

At least HJ tries. KSL posts the blurb from the Associated Press after every game and that’s the extent of their Aggie coverage
