Modify crowd routine during Aggie FT
Modify crowd routine during Aggie FT
I like the hands up quiet treatment for when the Aggies shoot free throws. The only problem is that it gets so quiet, there are either distracting sounds going on or opposing teams now have a voice to yell and be audibly heard. This happened several times last night.
Thoughts on making some white noise sounds? Everyone just ‘shhhhhhh’ during the free throw attempt to drowned out opposing fans/teams?

How about a nice low decibel chant “you will make it” or even the same chant Gregorian style?

I pointed this out for years but since the Spectrum fell more quiet in the last half decade it was less of an issue.

I really don’t think that this is an issue. If you can’t hit a free throw because “it’s too quiet” or because a single opposing player is being too loud, then you really aren’t a great free throw shooter to begin with.
It’s undeniably a distinct advantage compared to what the opposing players get on the other end.

I have always said that the quiet should be when the opposition is shooting free throws. I mean dead silence. And occasionally just one voice behind the basket talking to the player, getting into the players head. Just one voice amid the silence of the crowd. Then, on the two rows that are behind the hoop, everyone about 10 abroad, wears orange hunting gear to make it harder for the player to focus on the rim.

The team is making foul shots, leave it alone.

What we chant on the other end can either be tuned out or has a pattern. When something shocking and startling comes at the right time, it can cause issues.

Orange hunting gear would be interesting, but it would be better if there were razzle dazzle camouflage a la ww2 battleships or an array of hoop replicas to throw them off.mcaggie1 wrote: ↑March 3rd, 2019, 8:43 amI have always said that the quiet should be when the opposition is shooting free throws. When the fans chant "left", "right", "left", etc. when a player fouls out, they need to stop chanting it when our player is in the act of shooting free throws.

They did fix that the second time it happened this week. Thurman was playing them to distract our shooter and 75% of the students fell for it while the others tried to quiet them down. The next time they paused saying it until after the FT's were shot.
