My first memory of the Spectrum was a Greg Grant 2 handed dunk against BYU

Re: Merrill
Good thing Merrill played lights out. He willed us to the victory. So many key plays. We’ve got to find start putting teams away. Get rested up and ready for a tough tournament run
Credit to short handed CSU. They were making everything and had a nice offense plan. The hack a Queta was pretty smart as well

Re: Merrill
Amazing player that keeps getting better and keeps making big time plays. Without him playing sensational we drop several more road games this year. Going 7-2 on the road in the MW is incredible and he is the main reason why. He stepped up his game so many times on the road this year.

Re: Merrill
Merrill is a stud. Best all around player I've ever seen. I still love me some Jaycee, Saxon, and Tai but man I love watching Merrill play.

Re: Merrill
Best all around I agree. But what I truly like the most might be that he’s an Aggie to the core. Fun to see someone with a true love for the program bringing it back to the front.

This might be the only time I've got it right. From 2013, here were my thoughts after watching Merrill play in the state tournament.

Wow! Sam Merrill is a baller. He looks like he is straight of the movie Hoosiers. Shooting threes, pullup jumpers, finishing at the rim, and ones. That kid did it all tonight and still managed to elevate his whole team to a higher level. I am stoked for the future of Aggie basketball.

Unfortunately the MWC tends to not think as highly of our players as we do. But Sam sure made a strong case for himself over this last week especially. Played every minute of the last four games!

Re: Merrill
He's still about 1,000 points behind JC. 2522 to 1,489. He'll likely pass Wayne Estes and Greg Grant but fall a couple hundred shy of Carroll.

Merrill
Sam only has 614 on the season. Not sure if that includes today but he won't catch Jaycee.

Re: Merrill
Merrill is what I hoped Medlin would develop into. I'd say Medlin was a better catch and shoot guy but that's it.

Re: Merrill
Merrill scores and plays defense against the best guard on the other side. Carroll never did that.

Re: Merrill
Put me down on the side of Merrill being the best we've had in my lifetime. I'll be 38 this month. Guy plays both sides of the floor. While he won't pass Jaycee's scoring numbers, he's the better leader, better creator, better defender, and better passer.
Like Jared Quayle, Tony Brown, and Nate Harris, Merrill grew up watching the Aggies and wanting to play for them. There is something extra fun about that.

Re: Merrill
I’m on the Merrill train as well. I have never seen our best defender also be our best offensive player. He is so unselfish even though he’s the best player on the floor. Jaycee was great, but a one-sided player and couldn’t really get his teammates involved. We would run 3 picks to get him open to drain a 3. Merrill plays the opposing teams best offensive player, then dominates on the offense, creates his own shot, and leads the best leader we’ve had in the past 20 years.

Re: Merrill
Just thinking of last few games - BSU, Nevada. CSU. Not expecting to route rveryone.
From 13:31 in 2nd half after we took 63-51 lead CSU missed 5 shots - 1 miss they tipped in and other 2 missed were in last :27
They were on fire
