I’ve always respected Chris Murray. Good writer and generally very objective.

Can we negotiate a trade to bring Murray to Logan? He's one of the few reporters that I feel actually follows the league and I enjoy his articles.

Nice to have something with substance to read compared to what we receive from the local media.

Quite should win defensive player of the year too. It should be an all around sweep for the Aggies but I won't be shocked if it's not. David Woodward and Jordan Love were 2nd team MW which tells you how much they pay attention to the Aggies.

I expect COY, newcomer, and defensove player. I think theybwill find a way to not give Sam POY, hope im wrong on that but they can come up with creative ways to vote for someone else.

I just can’t imagine the MW letting Utah State sweep the COY, POY, and FOY awards. Someone is getting royally screwed. Queta is the lock but I feel Nevada is going to be represented somehow. Probably pull a weak, gut less co-award winner move just like they were gut less in defending extinguisher rights.

I’ve got to think if any, Smith would be the lock for COY. I could the others getting screwed but I don’t know how you make an argument against Smith.

I can just see the conversation in their heads

“wow I can’t believe I was going to select all USU players, that just doesn’t seem right. Hmmmm who can I replace? Smith is clear COY, they were picked to finish 9th. Queta is an absolute beast as a true freshman, no real competition there. Sam is the best player, but I think you could make an argument for xyz. He’s a senior too, would be nice for him to go out with POY. Sam still has next year so I won’t feel too guilty about snubbing him...”

I'm pretty sure it's just the coaches that vote. There is a media poll too but the conference doesn't acknowledge it.

Just ask Rudy Gobert and Dennis Lindsey if a coaches vote gets things right or if there some angle to how at least some of them vote.

I am willing to give up the POY award for the Tourney Championship. I’m sure Sam would be okay with that too. I think Musselman would trade the championship for COY. HE likes to think about himself.

Here's what the opinion is in Boise per Tom Scott:

KTVB’s Jay Tust tweeted this: “Sam Merrill is the Mountain West Player of the Year, right?” Tust pointed out that Merrill played 45 minutes and scored 38 points against Colorado State in Utah State’s 100-96 overtime win Tuesday night and has averaged 42.5 minutes and 29.5 points in the last five games. Then came a reply from Hutchison: “Would be a huge disappointment if someone who deserves it doesn’t end up getting it.” Not too hard to read between the lines there. As a Boise State senior a year ago, Hutchison was edged by Nevada’s Caleb Martin for the honor. This season it’ll come down to Merrill, Martin and the Wolf Pack’s Jordan Caroline. I’d favor Merrill, who has been central to the Aggies’ Cinderella run to at least a share of the Mountain West regular season title after they were picked ninth.

I would be shocked if the Aggies got all 3. Even though we know they are all deserving. There is a bias as we all know against the Aggies and favoritism to Nevada and San Diego State. I think they snub Sam and maybe even Coach Smith, but give Queta the Freshman award.
I've just seen these snubs too many times in the last 25 years I've been a big fan.
Hope I'm wrong.

If Sweet Caroline or the one of the Martin twins dont get POY, I wouldn't want to be a fire extinguisher.
And if Musselman doesnt get COY, look out for the F-bombs.
