Definitely helps not having that bad loss.

Yeah, we are in and the MWC could get 3 teams and we’d still be in.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
The announcers sure seemed to think that our ticket was already punched and that a loss would have just dropped us to Dayton, and then was like "I don't know about dropping them that far"?

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
agree, we are(should) be in, and 3 teams from the MW is a possibility for sure.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
Fresno is beating AF by 17 at half. Fresno will be really difficult, but the nice thing is if we do lose they are a top 80 team so it is not a bad loss.

I think if we win tomorrow and Saturday, we've got a decent shot.
But honestly, I'm always pessimistic and even I think we just punched our ticket. Which seems surreal.

Yes, and it doesn't matter who wins the tournament.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
Which as a side note, I find it laughable that many of the bracketologists have teams that had lost 4 and 5 straight going into their conference tournaments as "should be in". I seriously think that if we lose tomorrow and don't get it, it will be a greater travesty than the Big West snub. We play much, much better competition now. I find it almost incomprehensible that UNM is a sub-.500 team. That crazy press will make nearly any team wilt under the pressure.

I think we are a lock to avoid a first four game even if we lose to Fresno
I think our floor is an 11 seed

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
It was already punched, but we punched it harder I guess.
Floor is a 10 seed, if we can win tomorrow we might get a 7-8 even with a loss to Nevada, potentially a 6-7 if we win it all

For the life of me, I can't figure out why UNM didn't press all season.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
Seriously. Their best defense is obviously the press, and their best offense is off of steals. Their half court offense turns into a lot of hero ball, which was referenced by Mathis in the postgame as one of their problems all year.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
Sorry to post anything negative about our chances of getting into the big dance, but I'm going to suggest something which I think is realistic. With the WCC now being a two bid league, I very much doubt that the MWC will get three teams into the tournament. Nevada is clearly in, but if anybody not named Nevada wins the MWC tournament, only Nevada and the tourney winner will get in. And if the tourney winner is not Utah State, Utah State will not get in.
Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
Nope, 3 in if Aggies and Pack lose.72AgGrad wrote:Sorry to post anything negative about our chances of getting into the big dance, but I'm going to suggest something which I think is realistic. Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
I have this fear too, but I don’t think the committee is going to look at it and say “ah, shucks, we just can’t let three in from the MW despite Nevada and USU being deserving.”Jjoey53 wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 12:05 pmNope, 3 in if Aggies and Pack lose.72AgGrad wrote:Sorry to post anything negative about our chances of getting into the big dance, but I'm going to suggest something which I think is realistic. The east-west balance is already going to be staggeringly in favor of east coast teams. I think we are okay no matter what happens.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
WE ARE IN GUYS! I had to write that in caps so you could hear it better. The win last night sealed the deal, and also the fact that we ain't losing tonight. WE WILL BE DANCING THIS YEAR!!!!!!! I even added extra exclamation marks to drive this point home. Stop worrying folks. Last night was the last hurdle in going to the tourney. We passed it.

Re: Did we just punch our ticket?
That's not how this works, they don't limit conferences to an allowable amount of teams.72AgGrad wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 11:50 amSorry to post anything negative about our chances of getting into the big dance, but I'm going to suggest something which I think is realistic. We are in no matter who wins the auto bid. It happens every year with teams playing spoiler and stealing bids by winning the auto over teams who are already in the field, and knocking someone else off the bubble
