Even the great players have an off night

Post by troutputz » March 22nd, 2019, 8:05 pm

1963 game in the NCAA against Arizona State we lost 79-75. Our great Estes, my hero had the worst game of the season. He 11 points but had been averaging 26 that year. Estes couldn’t buy a basket!
I just want to win a first game before I go take a dirt nap!

Yes. Offense was scared. The first guy open against their zone was told to launch. 2 more passes plus Sam flying off baseline screen we win
That team was great at stripping the ball. Even in the key they took it from Sam
6 minutes down one. They totals defended us down

Off night, but also an elite defensive scheme designed to shut him down with possibly the best defensive player in the country as the anchor. It will be a good learning experience for him and the team for next march
