McChesney HS team wins state
well, not exactly state, but 'provincials' is too long to type.
Anyway, here are the highlights for the title game and an article about the game.

Felt like watching Modou against the Japanese. I like McChesney’s skills but I think he’s going to need a redshirt year to adjust to D1 level of play.

He looks pretty good, and I think he'll have a decent collegiate career. But man, that competition in the championship game was some horrible basketball. He is going to be in for a huge wakeup call the first time that he plays pickup ball with the team when he arrives on campus. I have high hopes, but it'll really require a big adjustment for him.
Thanks for sharing.

C’mon guys. He plays AAu ball, he has seen some good competition, he knows what he is in for. The bigger question for both him and the Australian is where are they going to get minutes.

Quality of competition doesn’t define his potential. 6’10” with length and can shoot it. Remember he was on the Canadian national team for his age group. I personally like his potential.
I can’t imagine competition in anaconda Montana or Evanston Wyoming being that great, but look at mr Carroll and Estes.
Does look like a rs year to gain weight would be beneficial.

I like his handle for a big man. Nice to see catch and shoot as well as shooting off the dribble. Very nice looking shot with good form. I know everyone has him projected as a stretch 4, but based on that video (very short video) I think he could potentially play the 3 or even the 2 depending on how he develops. Definitely going to need to hit the weight room if he is gonna play the 4. He seems to be more perimeter oriented. Anyone know if he has a post up game?
It’s always difficult to know if a guy will translate well from any high school competition to D1, but he seems to have a skill set that will. The biggest question I have after watching the video is will he play physical or is he soft? Anyone seen other videos that would clue us in?

Dare I say I saw some Dirk and I saw some Durant. That baseline dunk was pretty sweet. The pass was not a lob and he still brought it up and threw it down. I’m pretty sure coach has thrown out the Durant comparison with the disclaimer that he is not Durant, but has similar size and skill set.

The article talks about how they had some tournaments against a lot better competition in Vancouver and that his team fared super well. I think he'll get a red shirt year, but he has tons of potential.

High school players don’t typically see the best competition at HS.
When you consider that on a lot of HS teams the taller players are close to 6’2”.
Basketball players see their competition through AAU.

Looks really good, but crazy skinny. Needs to fill out a lot. I would bet he has some growth potential left.

He'll be fed full of beef, milk, and cheese as soon as he steps foot in Cache Valley. That's the benefit of being a bunch of farmers, I guess.
